In the Name of Allāh, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Imām Taqī ud-Dīn Aḥmad Ibn Taymiyya (may Allāh have Mercy on him) said, “Truly, Ibn `Arabī and his like , even if they claim to be mystics, rather they are atheists mystics and philosophers, who have nothing to do with mystics of speculative theology, and still less with eminent teachers of the Book and the Prophetic Tradition such as al-Fuḍayl Ibn `Iyād, Ibrāhīm Ibn Adham, Abī Sulaymān al-Dārānī, Ma`rūf al-Karḫī, Junayd Ibn Muḥammad, Sahl Ibn `Abd Allâh al-Tustarī, and others - may Allâh be pleased with them all.” (Al-Furqān bayna awliyā' ar-Raḥman wa awliyā' aš-Šayṭān, pg.80)
Hāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar (may Allāh have Mercy on him) said, “I asked my Šayḫ Sirāj ud-Dīn al-Balqayānī about Ibn `Arabī and he replied quickly he is disbeliever” (Lisān ul-Mīzān, 4/318, another edn. 5/213. Tanbīh al-Ghabī ilá takfīr Ibn `Arabī, pg.159)
Hāfiẓ `Izz ud-Dîn Ibn `Abd us-Salâm (may Allāh have Mercy on him) said, “He is an evil Šayḫ and a big liar, who says that the universe is uncreated and does not see anything forbidden in any sexual relationship.” (Siyar a`lām al-Nubalā’, 23/48. Lisān al-Mīzān, 5/311, another edn. 6/398. Mīzān al-I`tidal, 3/659. Tanbīh al-Ghabī ilá takfīr Ibn `Arabī, pg.138)
Abū Zar`at Ibn al-Hāfiẓ al-`Irāqī (may Allāh have Mercy on him) said, “Undoubtedly the famous book ‘Al-Fusūs’ contains blatant disbelief, as does ‘al-Futoohāt al-Makkiyyah’. If it is true that he wrote this and continued to believe in it until he died, then he is a disbeliever who is doomed to eternity in Hell.” (`Aqīda Ibn `Arabī wa ḥayātuhu, pg.60)
Qāḍī Taqī ud-Dīn al-Subkī (may Allāh have Mercy on him) said, “Whoever is from amongst the later mystics like Ibn `Arabī, Ibn Sab`īn, al-Quṭb al-Qunawī, al-`Afīf al-Tilmisānī, and others then they are ignorant and misguided and they outside the way of Islām; those among them who have knowledge are even worse.” And Ibn al-Muqrī said: “Whoever doubts in the disbelief of Ibn `Arabī’s group, he himself is a disbeliever.” (Mughnī al-Muḥtāj, 11/170)
