The real name of Iblis was Azazil, He was given the name Iblis after he had rejected the order of Allah (swt) to bow down to Adam (as). He is described to be "aduww mubin” (enemy avowed ) in the Quran
The devil becomes very disturbed when sons of Adam prostrate before Allah(swt)
When the son of Adam recites the Ayah of Sajdah (prostration) and then falls down in prostration, Satan goes into seclusion and weeps and says: Alas; and in the narration of Abu Kuraib the words are: Woe unto me, the son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated and Paradise was entitled to him and I was commanded to prostrate, but I refused and am doomed to Hell.. (Muslim, Iman, 35)
To construct a building is difficult and you have to put all your strength to it, how ever to demolish it is quiet simple. This is how the devil works. He tries to build misunderstandings with in Muslims, which he establishes with his weak tricks but they seem quiet strong to us as he tricks us through deception and with delusion.
The main things the devil works from is through these listed below:
Lust and fury, jealousy and ambition, greed, haste, stinginess, hatred etc.
Satan makes them promises, and creates in them false desires; but Satan's promises are nothing but deception.(an-Nisa, 117-120)
Some people are affected by the devil through his whispering for example in regards to Namaaz (prayer) he might whisper in your ears something like this:
“Allah does not need your prostration. Prostration is performed to show respect; you already have respect for Allah. Your heart is pure; that is enough for you…!”
or he might make you think twice about your religion .. “You accepted Islam as a whole. What if Islam is not really the religion of Allah? Why do you not regard it with doubt? Scientific look necessitates doubt! An intellectual like you should not accept things without investigating!”
Through his wicked tricks he tries to frighten us ..
"Satan threatens you with poverty and bids you to conduct unseemly.” (al-Baqara, 268)
We love being able to eat when we want and why shouldn't we Allah (swt) gave us food to eat. But the thing we forget alot is that the fact that there are people around the world who have no food or water, they have no shelter. When we hear these things, at that moment we say to ourselves "I'm gonna donate this much" and "I'm gonna do this and that" but the devil does not allow us. He gets us so busy with our worldly things, that we forget to do so, or he builds greed in our heart later. For example "if I give money to them, I'm gonna waste my money and I won't have any left" This is the reality brothers and sisters and that's the reality of the deceiving Satan.
For women the devil can affect them through how they present themselves for example if they cover or not, if they wear make up or not, whether they follow the latest trends, back chatting/ gossiping about others. For the men it might be the same thing for example if they show they ankles or not, 'sagging' is one of the latest trends with in the male fashion industry, or they might be so lost in greed for example their love for cars and money.

You know that time in the morning when you have to wake up to pray .. 'Fajr' Your bed seems so cosy and warm, your pillow has never felt so soft before, your sleep has never been this good before.... this is only the devil getting to you. As you have noticed that the devil has many ways of getting to people. But there are ways of keeping him out of your life and the best of them would be ' praying your salah' what can be better than this .. we are remembering Allah (swt) 5 times a day and blocking the Satan out of our life.
