Troubled Youths

Assalamualaikum to my dear brothers and sisters,

May all of you be in the best state of health and imaan, Insha Allah.
I have been thinking about how to bring the youths (in my country) back to the straight path which is blessed by Allah. Im sure in other countries this problem has been a concern too.

Im not a counsellor nor an ustazah. But im willing to do my part as a youth and sister in islam. There are many factors that cause this problem. Family (esp parents), friends, mass media and etc.
Hence, i post this thread for us to share the solutions which doesnt need to be 'big' or 'heavy' or too direct but it can be a simple solution such as erm organise an activity for them? sorry i cant think of any good solution. So feel free to provide me with the alternatives ya. Hope this will be beneficial for others too. :)

Dear bro sazk,
thanks for your comment. But hmm..i think my question is not well-versed. hehe. What i actually meant is the Muslim youths who dont practise Islam in their daily lives and portray a negative view on Islam. Such as alcoholics and mixing of youths of the opposite sex without 'boundary' that Islam has given. Im sorry brother, ive not made my qn clear enough..

Erm..but I somehow disagree with you about chinese. =) The chinese here are mostly good i mean friendly and kind. There are Chinese Muslims here too. =)

I suppose the problems of Muslim youths who are not guided and prone to commit sins or wrongdoings which is against Islam has been a concern. So how can we help them?

make them eat lots of durians. :) joking

i think you should re-invite Dr. Zakir Naik back to singapore for one more lecture and ask the parents to come with their youths to his lectures. it would also help if there was TV coverage of his lectures. he should inspire them to become good muslims. if you can reach website IRF on google, you can contact him by email. other than that you can give DVDs about islam to people when you give presents.

oh and what does a durian look like ? can you send a picture of one so that i can buy it and finally taste it :)

Wa 'alaykum salaam wa rahmatullaah

May ALlaah (subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa) make you successful in your intentions. Aameen.

Sister, a suggestion would be to gather a group of Muslims and form a team of (voluntary) youth workers, brothers to deal with brothers and sisters to deal with sisters. Activities and events can be organised by you and the team for the youth in your community to get them away from any haraam activities that may consume their time. This could include sporting events for brothers or sisters and trips out to places which they like. Get them involved by setting up regular clubs for them to meet and socialise with each other (segregated of course). Ask them what they want and try and meet their reasonable demands. Try and increase their interest in Deen ul Islaam by organising for them to attend lectures together. Make trips to the Masjid regular and if possible, try and make the Masjid the meeting place. Arrange transport for them to all attend Islaamic events at places other than yout own town.
Alhamdulillah, this has worked but it is important to keep a balance. Give them "fun time" where you take them out on trips to places they like to visit and slowly encourage them to attend events that will benefit them also.
