Another hadith question.

I was just wondering if someone can tell me if this hadith is authentic or not as i havent came across it before.

"The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said in a Hadith:


�Beware of extremism in religion, since those before you were only destroyed by extremism.� (Sunan Nasa�i, Musnad Ahmad and others)".

I wonder what the word for "extremism" translates to in Arabic? I have no idea whether or not this is authentic but I would like to look it up in arabic to look at the translation in English

I found it on a website called "muttaqun.com" in case the reference numbers help anyone tell us if it is legitimate or not.

Reported by an-Nasaa'ee (5/268), ibn Maajah (no. 3029), Ahmad (1/215, 347) with a saheeh sanad.

The Messenger of Allaah (SAW) said, "I warn you of extremism in the Religion for indeed those that came before you were destroyed due to their extremism in the religion."

The Hadith is Authentic; however it must be said the site you got it from is not.

Especially the fatawa linked in question. The answers are incorrect, and many have mistakes. It's better to refrain from accepting them, as they directly effect our Deen.

I do not want to offend, but can people not make there own decisions on information they are presented with? It makes for a smart and intelligent person, who is aware of the opinions of others. I also think it is possible to strengthen our own deen, in knowing how others are thinking.

sorry about not knowing if the site was authentic lol but thats not realy where i got it from, i googled it to see if any site had it as i found it from a lecture by Hmaza yusuf on Youtube

The question that is being asked on that site was not my concern but the hadith was and i posted a link to see if any site had, i also used this site before so i though it was authentic?

Are all of the fatwas on that site not authentic? As i have been using it for other answers???

Anyone find this hadith in arabic? I would like to see what the word is in arabic to discuss informally with my husband.... I mentioned it and our "uneducated guess" is that Islam calls for moderation, not going to extremes in anything, but we would like to understand so much more, including the background of this hadith from a reliable source Jazak Allahu Khair
