:salam2:
Quite frankly, I find this thread to be of no use what-so-ever. And I'm sure if one were to look further into it, they would realize it as well.
As Al-Kashmiri mentioned, if you get a threatening message then send a PM to the Mods with the persons name, and we'll look into it. If you enjoy such PMs then tayyib, but still inform us because we dont want that people who transgress in such regards not be left without a warning. Or you yourself can give them advice if you so wish.
But as to how the thread is going now, its first offence would be the blatant waste of time. For the ones writing in this post, as well as the ones then obliged to reply.
Ibn Abbas (RadiAllahu Anhu)narrated that Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good." (Bukhari 8/421)
Granted that perhaps people have time to spare in uselessness, then what about the action itself? Does Islam truly support complete free speech? Are we as Muslims always encouraged to speak up about whatever we feel like? Or is there more good in patience, forbearance and silence?
What is the purpose of using our words? Are they to mock our brothers and sisters? Knowingly or unknowingly? Jokingly or not jokingly? .... Where to we draw our line?
‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Fear joking, for it is folly and generates grudges.”
Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqaas said: “Set a limit to your jokes, for going to extremes makes you lose respect and incites the foolish against you.”
Also what have we got to "bash" about for? It's as mentioned pointless, and based on the theory that the one bashing is not what he/she claims the one being bashed is...
Allah, the Exalted, says:
"O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group; it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor let (some) women scoff at other women; it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult one's brother after having Faith [i.e., to call your Muslim brother (a faithful believer) as: `O sinner', or `O wicked']. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Zalimun (wrongdoers).'' (49:11)
Also, even though this is not what is technically being done here, we should remember that if we continue in such a fashion, expressing ourselves in this manner may become habit and common, and this is not correct at all. Imagine standing in front of a person and calling him a git in the name of joking or letting your feelings out. Highly innappropriate. There is moderation in every aspect of Islaam!
Here are following explicit ahadeeth I think you should ponder over insha'Allah tala.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "It does not befit a Siddiq (righteous Muslim) to frequently curse others.''
[Muslim]
Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A true believer is not involved in taunting, or frequently cursing (others) or in indecency or abusing.''
[At-Tirmidhi].
Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Reviling a Muslim is Fusuq (disobedience of Allah) and killing him is (tantamount to) disbelief.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "When two persons indulge in abusing each other, the beginner will be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress the limits.''
[Muslim].
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is enough evil for a Muslim to look down upon his (Muslim) brother.''
[Muslim].
Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A true believer does not taunt or curse or abuse or talk indecently.''
[At-Tirmidhi].

I hope you remember every word you utter is recorded, so after reading the above hadith I encourage you that you please please reconsider and think when posting: who you are addressing, how and what status they have as a Muslim, and those rights.
Based on that, I'd like to tell you - TTI does NOT support Free Speech.

and also this thread is now
