Recently a buddy of my referred this question to me and i attempted to answer the question to the best of my knowledge. However, i wanted to present to everyone who may probably answer it better than i can. They asked,"If Muslims believe in the Gospels, the Torah that this is in fact the word of Allah, why did Allah allow people to change these Holy Books and not the Quran?"

reply to the first part of ur question.
. MUSLIMS BELIEVE IN THE TAURAH, ZABOOR, INJEEL AND QUR’AN
Four revelations of Allah (swt) are mentioned by name in the Qur’an: the Taurah, the Zaboor, the Injeel and the Qur’an.
Taurah, the revelation i.e. the Wahi given to Moosa (a. s.) i.e. Moses (pbuh).
Zaboor, the revelation i.e. the Wahi given to Dawood (a.s.) i.e. David (pbuh).
Injeel, the revelation i.e. the Wahi given to Isa (A.S.) ie. Jesus (pbuh).
‘Al-Qur’an’, the last and final Wahi i.e. revelation given to the last and final Messenger Muhammad (pbuh).
It is an article of faith for every Muslim to believe in all the Prophets of God and all revelations of God. However, the present day Bible has the first five books of the Old Testament attributed to Moses and the Psalms attributed to David. Moreover the New Testament or the four Gospels of the New Testament are not the Taurah, the Zaboor or the Injeel, which the Qur’an refers to. These books of the present day Bible may partly contain the word of God but these books are certainly not the exact, accurate and complete revelations given to the prophets.
The Qur’an presents all the different prophets of Allah as belonging to one single brotherhood; all had a similar prophetic mission and the same basic message. Because of this, the fundamental teachings of the major faiths cannot be contradictory, even if there has been a considerable passage of time between the different prophetic missions, because the source of these missions was one: Almighty God, Allah. This is why the Qur’an says that the differences which exist between various religions are not the responsibility of the prophets, but of the followers of these prophets who forgot part of what they had been taught, and furthermore, misinterpreted and changed the scriptures. The Qur’an cannot therefore be seen as a scripture which competes with the teachings of Moses, Jesus and the other prophets. On the contrary, it confirms, completes and perfects the messages that they brought to their people.

i am sorry if i did not ask the question clearly but the issue is not the competing views of each of the books. it is the notion that Allah promised that the Quran be eternal and would be protected from any changes. The problem is that Zeboor, Inciil, Torah have all been changed and misconstrued. Why did Allah not protect these books as was the word of Allah and decided to protect only the Quran?

Assalamualikum,

I believe that this is one of the many miracles of the Quran which ALLAH uses to distinguish HIS final revelation.

Many reverts like me admit that the main reason to accept ISLAM is because of the preservation of the Quran.

Another point to note is that even the languages of the Torah and the Injeel is not spoken in this century....while Arabic is still spoken...

Hope this clarifies...

I would like to hear other views too...

Walaikum assalam

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

"Why did Allah allow people to change these Holy Books and not the Quran?"

Why did they allow themselves to change the words of Allah?

No muslim dares to change the words of Allah because muslims know they don't have the right to, For Allah can descend upon them an unimaginable punishment, sooner or later.

When we see how christians and jews thought they can come up with better words or tell history in a better way!!!

This is really ridiculous.

They keep accusing us for what some of us did wrong, when they keep underestimating Allah, Acting as superiors, changing the words of Allah, Making movies where God is represented by a human actor who thinks and acts like us?!?!

Is that how they worship Allah???????

2:75. Can ye (o ye men of Faith) entertain the hope that they will believe in you?- Seeing that a party of them heard the Word of Allah, and perverted it knowingly after they understood it.

4:46. Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "What hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.

5:13. But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.

5:41. O Messenger. let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief: (whether it be) among those who say "We believe" with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews,- men who will listen to any lie,- will listen even to others who have never so much as come to thee. They change the words from their (right) times and places: they say, "If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!" If any one's trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such - it is not Allah.s will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.

Because it was ment to be a test for them which apparently they failed..

Unlike muslims who made every effort to prevent the Holy Quran from Being tempered with, And by the help and guidance of Allah SWT they succeeded.

Some few muslims who'v lost thier path tryed to change some of it, But they couldn't.

After all, It all goes by the will and only by the will of Allah.. And we cannot argue or question it.

Assalam O Alaikum,

Brother instead of giving my own opinion i would rather suggest you to watch a lecture given by Shiekh Khalid Yasin in Australia on the topic of "Purpose of Life". He answered the same question in the question and answer session. If possible, give a copy of this lecture to your friend.

All my TTI family members are also adviced to watch it.
