Who's watchin' it...?

I know it's going 2 cause offence but i just wanna see how far Channel 4 can go... It still hasn't crossed it's limit, it's still getting away with slander, dirtyin' our good name.

This is what It's site has to say on this programme:

"The Qur’an has become the most ideologically influential text in the world, but what does it actually say? And how much do Muslims and non-Muslims understand its message and its history?"

"In this fascinating and challenging documentary, award-winning filmmaker Antony Thomas, investigates how a text that has inspired peace, tolerance and creativity down the ages can be used to justify violence and terrorism (does it though...?! :astag:) amongst a minority of Muslims.

The Qur’an explores the history of Islam’s holiest book and asks what it says about issues such as women’s equality, mercy and punishment, war, peace and suicide bombing, and relations with other faiths.

Muslims believe the Qur’an to be the word of God, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad nearly 1,500 years ago. From women’s rights to freedom of speech, and from punishment to forgiveness, it affects every aspect of their lives. But they don’t all read it in the same way.

This documentary takes us to places where women may not vote or drive cars, and to countries where they lead political parties; mosques where devotees pray to saints, and others where this would be seen as idol worship; devotees who dance, sing and feel Allah in their hearts, and imams who insist on an austere version of Islam.

This powerful film meets a diverse range of people living according to their understanding of the Qur’an, from ayatollahs to peasant farmers, and from hardline fundamentalist imams to progressive Islamic thinkers. It asks how – if the Qur’an is the ultimate and changeless message of God – such differences are possible."

Who watched it then...? What did you think of it...?
It wasn't as bad as i'd thought it'd be, was quite interesting... I watched it upto the FGM part (also after 9pm, my mum thought it would be best if we turned it off...)

It was mainly about Shia and Sufis :astag: and how The One Qur'an can be interpreted variously by 'many muslim tribes'.

I wrote this in another thread so i just pasted it.

I thought it was realy biased, eurocentric and completely missed what the Quran and the religion of Islam is about. Islam is about worshipping one God without any partners. Secondaly Female mutalition has nothing to do with the Quran yet the documentary still focused on it, same with Honor killings.

The documentary also showed Islam as the other as if it didnt have anything to do with the people in the west, I found that narrow.

Fastest growing religion - no mention.

Focused on terrorism, sect violenece and the stuff that the quran forbids but the documentary didnt even talk about what the quran said, should have said that sects are Haram in the Quran.

misrepresented Muslims and focused on how the west sees Islam as, Violent, divided and backwards.

However there were some good points such as muslim science, tolerance and women wearing Niqab and defending it but mostly it was a waste of time and a terrible documentary.

Salaam I agree with everything you said and i had a feeling it was gona be like that thats why after the first half i stop watching it because of what it said of what it was going to show in the second half, i bet they edited and selected most good things that where being said by the speakers on it, Don't know why alot of people got excited about watching it because i knew it would just leave non muslims still confused of what Islam is all about.
