Assalamu 3alaykum wa ra7matu Allahi wa barakatuhu.
Alhamdu lillah, many westerners revert to Islam and in my view this is due to the fact that all people have an innate sense of religion and the ability of knowing God as One, and at a certain point they realise that being agnostic or a non-observant 'believer' creates a spiritual vacuum. People are attracted to the family values and the structure of Islam, the logical answers it provides, the Islamic way of life, the reference points it provides and so forth. The statistics read that there are more women then men reverting to Islam, ALhamdu lillah, and many people cannot understand why any 'free & liberated' Western woman would choose a religion often depicted as oppressive of women (complete non-sense, it's just plain ignorance, they do not even bother to read). In fact, Islam teaches us where the real oppression of a woman lies, because in other systems there's a contradiction between what women are told in theory and what actually happens in practice. For instance, female workers earn on average less than their male counterparts, although they spend the same amount of time at the work place.

i think that for many people here in the west, especially in America; judaism and christianity is all that they really know. they never have really been given any other alternative to look into. although there is much debate about the current numbers, isn't it odd that islam is the world's second largest religion in the world, yet so many Americans know little or nothing about it? however, more and more people are looking into islam for various reasons. some want to know about islam and what our stance is on terrorism. some want to know about women's rights in islam. some want to know what we think about the prophet Isa ( alayhi salaam ). some want to know what makes our religion different than theirs.
it is my opinion and i feel that my opinion is the truth because i can speak from personal opinion; that when islam is properly presented and that the person that we are trying to reach looks at islam with an open heart and mind, and using logic and common sense, they will always end up saying :
because the truth becomes so evident to them. as far as christians accepting islam in particular... i think they accept islam because islam has the answers to the questions that they always had but their pastors and priests have never been able to answer.
