boys and girls

i was wondering if it was haram or if there was anything wrong with boys talking to sisters in islam or girls talking to brothers in islam.plz have a hadith or anything to prove that it is or it isn't

what i mean is talking to them as in when you see them in school do school work together and ask each other questions respectively or talking to them online
