Eid celebration in Islam

hello, I just have a question about Eid celebration

is it in Islam that on Eid elders give money to childrens called EIDI or can we celebrate eid different like buying our kids presents instead I know alot of people might say its like christmas ... I know but we r not celebrating christmas we are celebrating EID but we r just giving each other presents to share our joy I feel like it brings a family a lil bit more closer and giving ppl money might always be right option since some kids dont use it in the right manner

Thank You

dear brother shaheer,
:salam2:

Eidi is a form of eid gift to children in indian and pakistan culture. Giving gifts to children or to anybody is a good virtue but there is nothing in Islam, which makes it compulsory for Eid. Whether your gift is money or some other item, I don't see fundamentally any difference.
