hatred and islamophobia are real

:salam2:

my dear brothers and sisters here at TTI. i was given some very upsetting news today from my brother-in-law. he told me that as he was driving home he seen a billboard on a major highway that was spray painted that said " ALL MUSLIMS SHOULD BE KILLED. " when he told me this, i was very upset about and so was he, even though he is a non-muslim.

it upsets me because despite what the media says about muslims, i do believe in my heart that the American people have become more used to us and accepting of us, realizing that we are here and are not going anywhere. so this event seems to me as taking a few steps backward.

:salam2: this is terrible news, brother. with the surge in incidents of islamophobia the past few months, it makes me wonder how many people saw that despicable movie, obsession, designed to instill hatred and fear amongst americans against us.

i have to say that i know what it is like to live in the usa as a muslim who looks like every other westerner and a muslim who then wears hijab (finally, Alhamdulillah). i was living in florida which i think would be less used to immigrants from the arab world than new jersey. once i started wearing hijab, i was treated for the most part, with extra respect. doors being held open which had been a thing of the past, smiles from strangers and compliments from ladies on my scarf or tunic, etc. my american friends were also very pleased with "the new me". there was one "incident" when we went to eat in a restaurant in st petersburg and the staff were rude to us (it made me extra annoyed as our two young children were with us). also, some "redneck" in a pick-up truck tried to block me one day when i was trying to pick up my son up from school. he was glaring at me and shaking his head in his rear-view mirror. the irish in me wanted to roll down the window and flip him the bird or shout an obscenity, :astag:, but i refrained and just stared right back at him (i have to keep myself in check now that i represent islam visibly by the way i dress). however, these incidents were so few and far between that my overall experience in florida wearing hijab was really super-pleasant.

please make duaa for a dear sister of mine who devotes her life to dawa and is in a custody battle right now. if it were logical, all the evidence points to getting the baby into a safe environment but being muslim in these situations does not help and the discrimination from judges and police alike is very disheartening.....

islamophobia is real but i think there is hope and for every hatemonger out there, there are probably four others who convert to Islam. ALLAHU AKBAR!

hopefully the above graffitti does not mean that there is more islamophobia than ever but i would like to see the makers of that film, obsession, held accountable for their spreading of hatred.... of course who am i trying to kid.... the KKK can still organize meetings in the USA today and it is perfectly legal, unfortunately...

We arabs have a saying: " And goodnece provisions, Evil Prevails".

You may go through a situation with a christian who does wrong, and you think all christians are the same, but when one christian does good you'll say "this christian man is good".

This is generally wrong, It is injust to acuse a group of people based on the act of a single member of that group.
