Questions about Ihram.

Inshallah Tallah I find everyone well and in the best of health and Imaan.

I have a few questions with regards to when Sisters entering and within the state of Ihram. Inshallah Tallah I will be performing Umrah very soon and just wanted to clarify some pointers please.

I understand that once a sister comes into a state of Ihram, can she:
- Wear any colour cloth she likes (but obviously staying within the rules of Hijaab and not displaying herself with bright colours, etc)?
- Apply medicated creams which may have perfume in them?
- Brush their teeth with mint scented toothpaste (like mint flavour) or chew gum? Previously when I was in Saudi Arabia a couple of years ago I was actually told off by one of the pilgrims that chewing gum and brushing my teeth with toothpaste would invalidate my Ihram, is this true? :girl3:

Evidence from the authentic Ahadith and rulings from the Ulama would be most beneficial.

Jazzak Allah Khair for your help.

Wasalaamoalaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.
Your sister in Islam.

While there is no ban on the use of toothpaste or simple soaps and creams, we must abstain from using perfumes or highly scented soaps or creams that are used for beautification while in a state of ihram. For the true spirit of ihram entails shunning comforts and luxuries, thus manifesting humility and a state of utter reliance and poverty in front of Allah, our Creator and Lord.
