muslim v. muslim

:salam2:
very often, i read ahadith from Sahih Al-Bukhari, so that i may benefit from the wisdom of the Prophet Muhammad ( SAAWS ) and from the insight of his companions ( RA ). i came across a hadith narrated by ABU BAKR ( RA ) in which he says that the Prophet ( SAAWS ) said that whenever two muslims take up swords against each other that both the killer and the killed end up in the hellfire. perplexed, ABU BAKR ( RA ) asked " even the one that gets killed? " The Prophet ( SAAWS ) replied in the affirmative. saying that " surely he had intended to kill his brother. "

this hadith is not a rare one, that most muslims haven't heard before; rather it is a well known one. with that being said, it makes me wonder why so many of my muslim brothers and sisters are taking up swords against each other throughout the muslim world. be it muslim brothers in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia and elsewhere. the Prophet (SAAWS ) didn't mention that such behavior was wicked or haram. he stressed that the punishment for it was the jahannam ( hellfire ). having said that, you would think that we would pay great heed to the words of the Prophet ( SAAWS ). after all, our main goal in this worldly life is to escape the hellfire.

very often, we muslims are constantly blaming the enemies of islam for the terrible situation we muslims find ourselves to be in; never considering what our own hands have had to do with the situation. truly, we have been doing all the work for the enemies of islam by our behavior. our sunni and shi'a brothers in Iraq are killing each other on a daily basis; and for what? control over oil? didn't both groups, sunni and shi'a say LAA ILAHA ILLA LAA MUHAMMAD AR RASULLAH? those words are what should bind all muslims together; be it brothers from Nigeria to brothers in Jakarta.

it is my hope and prayer that we muslims can let go of the hostility that we may have against our own kind and unite for the better cause of the ummah. insha'ALLH. that we always keep in mind that muslims fighting each other only leads them to jahannam. may ALLAH SWT protect us from that. AMEEN.

I so agree with u a 100%. Muslims can also be largely blamed for the problems our ummah has faced. The sunni and shia difference has and is still used by our enemies and even by some Muslims who love to divide. contrary to what many may think, sunni and shia are not denominations as protestants, catholics, anglicans, etc are. Our difference has always been a political dispute historically and some of us have allowed it to be more than it is. I have friends that are shia and they pray with us and hate to divide the ummah. Who am I or how could I dare say they are kafirs or they are not Muslims? There is only one Islam and one Quran. All Muslims agree on that and we don't differ on concept of God, 5 pillars, prophethood, etc. I have changed my views recently and learned a whole lot about this sunni and shia thing. May Allah unite us and guide us, Ameen.

brother this hadith is not about sunni or shia its about muslim unity.ok for a second forget about the sunni shia problem, the question is are the muslims as a whole united?
shia are not among us.
they swear against abu bakr, umer, uthman and aisha(may Allah be pleased with them all)
it is about the feudal wars.
it is about our attitude as a whole.
it is about our behaviour as a united ummah.
can you follow a shia imam in prayers?:astag:

salam alaykum

actually forget about sunni vs shias....people actually call each other kaffir and their ancestors kaffir without any proof!....the state of the ummah is very shameful...u can c people talk about Islam but its only a word nowadays....theres a difference between salam and Islam
