Yes collectively and individually we are suffering by not following the Laws of Allah. Once we are given Knowledge we can not plead ignorance. However, I see this as a different course of discussion from faith being forced.
Islam is not a faith of force. Islam respects mankind. Faith starts and ends on an individual level. We know we have to face Allah subhana talla. I must obey and fear Allah with each intention and completed deed. I can discuss and demonstrate my faith but I can not coerce my faith onto you. I must be correct before I can correct anyone else.
