To Allah prostrate all things that are in the skies and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees.
[Surah Hajj, ayah 18]

And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. (Ayah 36:38)

And We have appointed the night and the day as two Ayat (signs). Then, We have obliterated the sign of the night (with darkness) while We have made the sign of the day illuminating, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know the number of the years and to count (periods of time). And We have explained everything in detail with full explanation.
[Surah Al-Isra Ayah 12]

Allah reminds us of the great signs that He created, including the alternation of the night and day, so that people may rest at night, and go out and earn a living, do their work, and travel during the day, and so that they may know the number of days, weeks, months and years, so they will know the appointed times for paying debts, doing acts of worship, dealing with transactions, paying rents and so on. Allah says:

that you may seek bounty from your Lord.

meaning in your living and travels etc.

and that you may know the number of years and to count.

If time stood still and never changed, we would not know any of these things, as Allah says:

Say: "Tell me! If Allah made the night continuous for you till the Day of resurrection, which god besides Allah could bring you light? Will you not then hear?" Say: `Tel me! If Allah made the day continuous for you till the Day of resurrection, which god besides Allah could bring you night wherein you rest? Will you not then see? Its is out of His mercy that He has made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and that you may seek of His bounty - and in order that you may be grateful.
[Surah Al-Qasas Ayahs 71-73]

It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon a light and measured for it stages that you might know the number of years and to count (periods of time). Allah did not create this but in truth.
[Surah Yunus Ayah 5 ]

The Prophet Sallah AllahuAlyhe wa Sallam said to Abu Tharr, May Allah be please with him, when the sun had just set:
Do you know where it goes?
He said, Allah and His Messenger know best He said:
"Verily, it goes (i.e. travels) and it prostrates beneath the Throne and seeks permission to rise, and permission is granted to it. Then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered: Return from whence you came, and so it will rise in the west."(Bukhari, Muslim)

Blessed be He Who has placed the big stars in the heaven, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light. And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude.
[Surah Al-Furqan Ayahs 61-62]

Sister Thank you for a lovely post. I am always taken to a new level of thinking with the ayats that you have posted. To me they indicate the unimaginable power of Allah subhan o tala, uncomprehendable by our limited thinking capacity. Despite having such power how very merciful and compassionate HE is. Despite being able to take full revenge how forgiving HE is . ALL praise is to HIM alone. ALLAH forgive us and those who were before us. Ameed

Assalamu allaicum wa rahamtullah wa baraaktuhu

Jazzak Allah khair dear sisters for your kind words. Allhamdullilah you have find it usefull.

Allah sais in Quran "....and in everything you have a sign....", and it is truth where ever we look we can see Allah signs of mercy toward us, and only those who do not think about Allah and only those who do not try to understand words of Allah can not see them and are blind.

All blessings and hardships are mercy from Allah, blessings to be grateful on them and hardships to increase our patience for the sake of Allah, and after every hardship comes relif and we are grateful to Allah more then before and Allah is pleased with us for the trust we have put in Him, SubhanAllah, and for every prayer we dedicate to Him and the good deed we do only for His sake. Except with Allah, believer will not find any other shelter, and on the day of Judgment when Allah gathers us to be asked for what we have done and for that what we have missed to do, there will not be other shelter for us then Allahs mercy toward us.

. ..There is none who can change His words, and thou wilt find no refuge beside Him..(Al Quran,Al Kahf,27).

And who will hear and answer on our prayers except Allah, and who will give relif to hearts except Allah, who will give us day after night except Allah, who will give us rain after dryness, noone except The One who is merciful toward His servant more then the mother toward her child.

"And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright." (Al Quran,Al-Baqara,186).

This belessed month, Ramadan, is also mercy from Allah toward Muslims, to increase our patient, our good deeds, our prayers, our mercy toward other Muslims, our brothers and sister, and at the end to be more thankful to Allah on everything He has given us.

"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, (let him fast the same) number of other days. Allah desireth for you ease; He desireth not hardship for you; and (He desireth) that ye should complete the period, and that ye should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that peradventure ye may be thankful.""Al Quran, Al Baqara,185).

May Allah bless you. Ameen
