Yes, this is a common statement out of ignorance.. first of all its very hard to prove that he actually is....
even if anyone actually is....The criteria for being noble in the sight of Allah is righteousness ...already mentioned(not colour, cast, lineage....etc)
Still some will argue..... for them Brother bari has given the answer.... even the strongest enimies of Islam in the beginning were also from his lineage...like Abu lahab wrt him there is a complete surah in Quran [Surah 111 – al-Masad] in which Allah declares hell for him.
I love this verse which commands us not consider ourself as superior to othesr n laugh at them may be in Allah's sight they r better than us.....
