I remember that when I was a kid my teacher told me a story of two angels who are still hanged inside a well on earth.., for the some reasons till the last day,

I don't remember the whole story.. but suddenly I remembered of what i was taught.. and now that want to know whether is this some thing authentic or not..

Brothers and sisters, have you ever heard about this? is that some thing Sahih??

If it is an authentic narration, then please do try to provide me with the whole story with the reference too :)

Have a nice time with strong Imaan and good health !! :)

Assalamo Alaikum Sister,

I have heard the same type of story. It is regarding the two angels "Haroot" and "Maroot". However that story is fabricated.

Please refer to the tafsir of Chapter 2, verse 102 of the Quran. Below is the Saheeh Internation translation of this verse.

"And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah . And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But the Children of Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew."

Jazakallahu khair for both of you..

I too managed to find the answer ALHAMDULILLAH..

Let me share it.. :)

Well, regarding the two Angels.. This is the ONE AND ONLY place where Allah says about them in the Qur'an..their names are.. Harut and Marut

They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon; the blasphemers were not Solomon but the evil ones, teaching men magic and such things as came down at Babylon to the angels Harut, and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew! (2:102)

This is what Ibn Katheer says in His book "Stories of the Qur'an" ON PAGE 32...

"Many scholars and transmitters narrated various stories and
narrations pertaining to the story of Harut and Marut, but all the
details they mentioned could be traced down to the narrations made by
the Children of Israel. However, there is not a single Hadith or
Narration that can be traced down to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be
upon him), the infallible one who says nothing but the truth. In
addition, the text of the Glorious Qur'an does not relate this story in
details, and thus we believe in what is mentioned in the Glorious
Qur'an as it is without any increase or decrease. Finally, Allah knows
best!"

So....... basically, there is a story.. but it is not some thing which is being explained in a detailed manner :)

No angels; are ever evil, they are completely obedient to Allah. Angels can't think things on their own unless Allah teaches them. ( reference see surat albagara(2); ayat 30-37)

Harut and Marut where angels sent down to babylon to teach people magic to do good things especially heal people. In turn the people started to use it to do bad things. So Allah describes in the very long ayah, the truth to the story as the Jews had there varying opinions about the subject claiming it as facts.

I don't know anything about 2 angels in a well.
