assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah,
We are a website dedicated to helping remove misconceptions about Islam. Our primary audience is non-Muslims who visit our website from the UK and USA.
Many of those visitors have almost no knowledge about foreign policy / politics in the Muslim world, and thus, it can be counter productive to have comments or articles which are written without due thought and care.
- I write this with experience of several years helping non-Muslims to Islam. A lot of non-Muslims who visit here really are interested to learn more about Islam, but are often upset by some of the comments / content people write on the Internet. - The vast majority of the users on our website contribute and help others in an amazing manner and I give thanks to those efforts. However, sometimes a small number, might get carried away or write a comment or post something without a degree of thought.
This is not to say that the main ideas in some online comments or articles are wrong or that we as Muslims hideaway and do not speak against any injustices, but we really should do so in an intelligent and thoughtful way.
This section of the website, was for introducing issues and allowing for people to understand the background to some of the problems facing Muslims.
Think for a moment, if you had no knowledge about the problems facing Palestinians or the long and dark history of Western imperialism in the Muslim world. Reading an article where the writer suggests that the US was a "terrorist nation" would be very difficult to accept, and may even evoke anger.
Please do think carefully how you write, and that the readership is quite diverse. If anything, write with the manners , character and personality that the Quran commands and that our beloved Prophet (s) taught us to have.
A Muslim should be an ambassador for Islam. We should always speak the truth and stand for the truth no matter what, even if it is against ourselves or those close to us. Just remember that it is important to have the right sense on when and how to speak. Its not always right to just speak your mind when you are overcome with emotion. Restraint and patience is something commended by the Sunnah. We should also make our judgements and reasonings based on solid evidences, rather than mere whims and conspiracies.
So please, lets conform to the Quran and the Sunnah in our sharing on the website.
Thank you
Wasalamu alaykum
