RAMADAN MUBARIK
May the blessing of Ramadan shower you all - ameen

i have a serious Q,

there is a hafiz in our area, who wants to lead us in Taraweeh, but he has some issues, well here are some the things i know he does

- openly talks to girls (sometimes is one on one with them)
- very inappropriate language even in masjid sometimes
- goes to parties where there is no alcohol but music n sheesha n open intermingling with opposite sex
- does not come to masjid regularly only sometimes

i dont want to go in more detail, some bro dont feel comfortable him leading but he is insisting again n again and has started his own jamaat of taraweeh at home instead of coming to masjid and having people join him by saying the masjid is unfair by not letting him lead the taraweeh.

Anyone has any good sugguestion how to deal with this matter

Brother,I had heard a similar question earlier,it was about an imam who was openly involved in un islamic activities of the sort as you mentioned.
The answer the sheikh gave was,if someone was openly breaking laws and doing un islamic things,it is better not to chose him as an imam,since the person leading prayer has great responsibility and should be of good character and righteous.If he openly breaks islamic rules then he should not be taken as iamam for prayers.
Brother,I suggest you pray behind another imam.Or at least let him know why you are not praying behind him.
If I said something that was incorrect may Allah forgive me.If any other knowledgable brother or sister could clarify the issue?
