Muslim woman threatened with gun

Ann Arbor — A 21-year-old Muslim woman said she was the victim of a hate crime as she drove along State Street on Sunday morning. The woman, who wears a head scarf, or hijab, told Ann Arbor police she was in her car at the intersection of State Street and Eisenhower Parkway when a driver in a black Dodge Ram truck behind her started honking and later pulled up beside her, where he hurled insults.

“I laughed about it, honestly, because it happens so much wearing a scarf that it didn’t bug me,” said Aisha. The Detroit News is not using her last name because of her fears of retaliation. The comments, she said, included “You don’t belong here,” “You are a terrorist” and “Your people need to be killed.”

Aisha said she dialed 911 on her cellphone and when she looked back, saw that the driver was pointing a handgun at her.

The woman, a nursing student, also reported the incident to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which asked the FBI to investigate.

“No people in America, be they Christian or a part of a religious minority, should be subjected to such threats because of their religion or faith,” said Dawud Walid, executive director for CAIR Michigan. “For any individual to be taunted because of their religion and have a firearm pointed at them is a hate crime in our mind. This is an individual who’s a threat not just to Muslims, but to society at large, and they need to be apprehended.”

this type of thing goes on in America, because of a few misguided muslims that decided flying planes into buildings was a good things. because of that innocent muslims have had to suffer. it's sad because prior to 9/11 muslims, for the most part were not looked down upon in this country. i still believe that most americans understand that it isn't all muslims that wish the country harm, but i would be naive to say that there isn't a sizable portion of the population that aren't ever going to be accepting of islam and muslims.

when Bin Laden says that he and his men were behind it. we should believe him. are you defending the 9/11 attacks? it seems to me that there are too many people here on TTI that are sympathetic with terrorists. we muslims have to stop dealing with conspiracy theories all of the time. deal with the facts. you are wrong in saying that half of all americans believe 9/11 was an inside job. the percentage is very few. 9/11 did happen by radical muslims, it doesn't make me as a muslim ashamed to be a muslim, because i know that Al Qaeda doesn't speak for me. why won't you admit that there are some radical/misguided muslims that wish america harm? why wont you say that Al Qaeda doesn't represent your version of islam? islam is perfect, not muslims!

when OBL first said he didn't do it, why did you not believe him? when his video was released by the US gov't admitting the crime, it was proved to be fake with a fake fat OBL sitting there. It seems there are too many blind stooges out there, even among Muslims, who are are still being spoon fed the lies by the western gov'ts and media that they readily accept as truth. There is no al-qaeda, is just a bogey group created by CIA to further its interests. There are misguided Muslims out there who wish to do harm to the US, there ALSO many non-Muslims out there who whish to harm US. Majority of the world hates US any ways. But you have to be quite naive to think a few rag tag uneducated people would learn how to fly commercial 747 planes, go astray from scheduled flight path and strike two buildings with remarkable precision.

There's plenty of evidence out on the web by experts of the all fields of science. I suggest doing a little independent research.

Occupy Wall Street is a reaction to the horrors of 9/11. The American people are waking up. They know it was a lie.

Now..back to the young Muslim girl. As the economy of the US dwindles or nose-dives there will be more incidents of those who lack understanding attacking innocents.

And I hate to sound like an old bitty...but we are warned not to let sisters out alone. Why are 21 year old Muslim girls out alone in the middle of the duyna?

I have been out in it and it is not safe. These cowards are not going to terrify an escorted woman. They will bully a young girl.

Desperate people do stupid things. And we need to get a message out to our young sisters...there is a reason why we are told to stay at home or only go out with a protector.
