To Admin,

Dear Sir/Madam,

Is it possible for you to provide a chat room as I believe it will be fully utilised by the members. I believe people can benefit by learning from each other, and as the members are from around the world it would be a good place for people to meet and discuss issues.

I wonder what the other members are thinking about this? Could this site benefit from a chat room? Please give us your views.

I'd be very grateful if somebody from admin could reply.

Thank you and regards,

+1 to above, hmm... how about an IRC channel? I think would be lot more easy to set up rather than a custom chat room included in the site itself.

Jazzak Allah khair dear brother for your suggestion and your noble intentions, but personally for me, I do not think that is a good idea for many reasons.

I have never used that public chat Alhadmulilah, that is why I do not know does exist some way of chats which are seperated for brothers and for sisters. If you mean brother on chat where it will be mixing between brothers and sisters, than that is not allowed in Islam Alahdmullah, as it can couse fitnah and personal talking between oposite gendres. And Allah knows the best.

May Allah bless you brother and all of us. Ameen.

Sister you should visit "chat islam" (combine the 2 words and add .com, coz form does not let me post this link for some unknown reason!) all you described has been already implemented and taken care of over there. but with an 'IRC' keeping men and women will not be possible unless we make 2 channels i.e TTI-men and TTI-women. ok I'll figure out something, how many of you would be willing to have a chat room if we can sort out the gender issue? (i mean do something to prevent mixing)

Edit: btw it just clicked my mind why dont we use use 'chat islam'? Its made for that purpose only apart from lectures and classes time to time.

Edit2: Oops seems I am a bit wrong and we couldn't use that one^, anyways Finding something else.

Asalamoalaikom wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

I don't think it's a good idea. We have enough here, to learn from each other. We got threads, Vmz for personal stuff and PMs for 'very' personal stuff. If you want to focus on one person, you can always ask for his ID.

The PMs here are at times misused. It's hard to keep that in check, starting a chatroom can really mean saying "welcome" to a big fitnah. Do we really need to put ourselves in trials like that when it's not even a necessity.

Just my tougths and opinions.

I like "chat islam", but the difference in between "chat islam" and what this thread is proposing is the fact on "chat islam" members cannot chat or discuss. They listen to lectures and ask questions.

Thank you dear brother and may Allah reward you for your explination.

But I do not think that is good for one forum, although it may be separated chat for brothers and sisters, as we already have public threads where we can dissuc Islamic related issues, and also we have " Sister only area", " Brothers only area",and aslo visitor messagess and private messagess.

I think that Alhmadulillah everything should be fulling its purpose, and that is how forum should ba made and used like a forum, and other kind of sites should serve and look by their purpose, Inshallah.

May Allah forgive me if I said anything wrong and may Allah guide us all.

ok I agree with brothers and sisters that it might be a door to trolls and fitnah.
brother Mabsoot I am a coder (although c++) but I have previous experiences with javascript, html, css etc including a small website as my school project so I would be extremely happy to help you with it, also if you would like a new look for the site I could suggest a few things too but unfortunately I cannot do this at the moment coz I am already overwhelmed by my school project (which is c++ this time) and I would not be able to handle any more atm. I will be free in 4-5 months, inshallah I would try my best to help you then.

(oh and if some of you are thinking why I wanted to volunteer for mod then, its becoz i can access the forum via phone)

For a moment keep aside the internet chat room thought aside. In real world, in business, offices and homes, they have a milder version of chat room called meetings, and its said that most meetings hardly help, are a drain of ones time, energy and effort.
Next, think of a real chat room, a room where people enter, strangers and wave another and invite a chat. Agreed real world has nothing like dedicated chat rooms. Its not needed.
Now, think of internet chat rooms. They have become a place where bored , nothing else to do, folks come in and try to kill time. Its become a place where the cloak of anonymity, of randomness, are most abused. The talk is more, the walk less. What purpose does it serve?

No a chat room, where strangers meet is not what TTI needs. TTI is meant to serve a different purpose. A site which strives at correcting misconceptions. A place where those who are interested get a chance to better understand Islamic spirit, learn correct Islamic way of life. Achieving that needs few conversations and followed by lots of self-reflection aimed at self improvement, and uplift of one's Imaan. Chat rooms lack in meeting these goals, Forums are better.
