Shooting at Virginia Tech Campus

Assalaam walaikum,

Two people were killed on the campus of Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Virginia. The gunman is still on the loose.

It saddens me because I was on the Red Cross Crisis Intervention team in 2007 when the mass murders rampage happened.

A college campus is a place for our youth to learn knowledge. It should be by nature be a safe place.

Random acts of violence make no sense. I pray for the students there and for those who have lost loved ones.

Does this post belong on TTI; yes. As Muslims we do not tolerate madness.

Assalaam walaikum,

Update...they believe that the gunman was one of the dead...

VT is heavily funded. It has a program for bio-engineering. The program is wrapped up in secrecy.

I have written about this in the past. Put two and two together.

America is always full of drama. Why doesn't this stuff happen in the UK? Not that it should.

I think the government in the US need to change the law and make it illegal for all citizen to possess a gun.

I guess you never heard of the Dunblane massacare? THese things can happen anywhere, it takes just one crazed individual and the right unfortunate circumstances.

The USA does have a lot of gun crime problems though, due to the availability of guns to the public.

I'm aware it happens elsewhere but it's more common in the US.

Assalaam walaikum,

You always hear the argument in the US that citizens have the right to protect themselves and one form of protection is the right to bear arms.

My concern is this..yes, you have the right to protect yourself. But, using guns to kill is an extension of anger.

There is little if any sabr. It is in the ethos of the populace to be angry.

Its unfortunate, how anger and frustration manifests in violent rage.

Its the deadly combination of a moment of madness + no fear of consequence + Whispering of Shaytaan.

May Almighty give every human, each one of us the restraint... Ameen
