Assalam alaikum all. I am not a Muslim yet but I am learning about Islam. I have learned about the five pillars of Islam, some common terms in Arabic, women and how they are elevated and respected in Islam, the five daily prayers, the Qur'an and hadiths, and the differences between halal and haram. I am getting close to deciding whether to revert or not; I am going to the masjid later today for a Qur'an class, meet with the women, pray, and insha'Allah take my Shahada.

I've got a question: Can I do wudu and my prayers in English while I'm learning the Arabic for the prayers?

See how much Allah loves you and guide you to islam, alhamdullilah i am happy for you. Welcome on this site.
I am revert and i learn by my self islam for about 1,5 year until now, with much guidance and mercy from Allah.

You dont need to learn first all arabic language to perform prayers, me too i dont know yet arabic, what you can do is learn with translations and transcriptions the easier but also so much beneficial short suras, first would be ofcourse Al-Fatiha , then you can continue with others....inchallah...learn by hearing much the pronunciacions, on repeat. You need to pray in arabic inchallah.

I've got a question: Can I do wudu and my prayers in English while I'm learning the Arabic for the prayers?

Dear Sister,

After taking the Shahada, you are Muslim... Alhamdulillah..

Now as for the prayers [Salah], Wudu you should start by saying only "Bismillah" and follow the steps till you wash your feets.

Make an intention in ur heart for the Salah that you will be performing, for the recitation, if you don't know Arabic Surah [procedure of offering Salah] you may simply Stand in front on ALLAH and follow the steps of Salah till you conclude with Salam.

Please note that we cannot make recitation in any other language apart from Arabic and as taught by Prophet Muhammad [saw].

And it is ALLAH who knows our intentions well.

So even if you don't know to recite what, insha ALLAH insha ALLAH ...

you'll get the reward of the Salah and please start with whatever you know coz once you are Muslim, Salah is Obligatory for you.
