Salam brothers & sisters
Can anyone tell me if music is haram in Islam? Something tells me that it can't be. But there are many people who have taken this too far. They even think listening to Hamd/Na3t or Nasheed is haram, let alone music. Does anyone know for sure if this is the case?
Waliekumasslam warahamatullahi wabarakatu,

http://islamqa.com/en/ref/5000. Inshallah you should be clarified with Issue, if you aren't still convinced I can post more fatwas from ulama and lectures from students of knowledge.
Regarding Naat/Nasheed, I'll Summarize what I learnt from Ulama:
*If by Naat/Hamd/Nasheed you actually mean Naat/Hamd/Nasheed i.e A poem or an anthem which is chanted or more specifically
raising voice while reciting a poem then it is permissible Inshallah but It should not have music in the background, rapping, imitation of Kuffar, etc. So you can see many of the present day so called nasheeds won't fit the criteria.
plz see:

* You shouldn't make it a regular habit to listen to them and should not waste too much listening to them.
Barakallah Feeki.
