I heard/read a hadith about someone, who tell people to do good, but he doesnt, and he tell them to stay away from bad, but he does it himself. So he will have a horrible punishment for this (you can find the original hadith actually, maybe you alrady heard of it)

So sometimes, it makes me think, maybe there are things that we do and we know these things are bad and actually we also want to stay away from them but somehow we just dont do it.

Let's say, someone shake hand with opposite gender, even though he doesnt want it (he cant say it out of his cowardness). But then he tell people or he share a video about, how bad its to shake hand with women etc. Because he wanna warn people not to do it, its bad, even though he does it himself sometimes.

In this case, do you think its better just to keep quiet and not tell anyone whats good and whats bad because we dont practise it either so that we will not be one of those people mentioned in hadith (inshallah) ? Or should we keep telling/reminding others about these things no matter what we do

Dear brother it depends on the situation: for example if someone says shaking hands is haram and then he shakes hands because he is weak and can't resist and ask Allah for forgiveness and tries his best to get stonger and resist this fitna and he reognizes that what he does is a mistake then INCH'ALLAH he can and he must warn the people and advice them to do the good..BUT if a person says for example that shaking hands with women is haram and then goes shaking hands intentionally, without feeling bad for the sin, without asking forgiveness and doing tawba and without wanting to get better and eliminate this weakness then for sure a great punishment will befall upon him(or her, in the opposite situation).

Allah swt judges our actions based on our intentions..so the question is...What is our intention? :)...

I pray to Allah(swt) that He(swt) may guide us, forgive us and increase us in iman, knowledge and love for Him(swt) His Rasul(saws), and among our selves an an Ummah :) for verily there is no God but Allah, Al-Wadud(The Loving One), Al-Rauf(The Most Sweet).
