Records, Deeds, Person, All Weighed
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The scales will be set up on the Day of Resurrection, and a man will be brought forth and placed in one pan, then everything that was recorded against him will be placed in the other. The scale will tip against him, and it will be said, ‘Send him to the Fire.’
“When he will turn back, a voice will cry out from the presence of the Most Merciful, saying, ‘Do not hasten! There is something left for him.’ A piece of paper will be brought forth on which would be written ‘Laa ilaaha ill-Allah,’ and it will be placed in the pan with the man and the balance will tip in his favour.” [Ahmad]
This hadith indicates that the person will be weighed in one pan along with his Hasanaat and his record of good deeds, and his Sayi’aat and record of bad deeds will be placed in the other pan.
What is apparent from the texts – and Allah knows best – is that the doer of the deed, the deed and the record of his deed will all be weighed, because the Ahadeeth, which serve to explain the Quran, mention all of these things, and there is no contradiction between them.
