You can try St. John's Wort.
Also, Vitamin B has been known to help as well.
Omega-3s will help. Make sure you are also taking a good multivitamin.
All of these are available at the pharmacy.

Make sure you are eating enough fruits and vegetables.
Are you having trouble sleeping? Try Melatonin - it is natural and you can take up to 9 mg. Available at the pharmacy.

Exercise is known to change brain chemistry - cardio as well as yoga.

Hope this helps.

Dear sister

I believe and Allah knows better the way we think , our own faith can make the difference , if we come to prayer with a humble , sincere heart .........if we understand that we are a poor slaves of Allah ........if we thank Allah subhanahu wa taaala for all that we enjoy .......everything .......air, food , earth, sky , water................eyes,...brains........every single bounty ...........then things will be better.......we have to renew our faith ......kill our arrogance and return humbly to our creator.

I hope my words penetrate into your heart ,and make a difference

With love and respect.

To Queen Islam, I just wanted to clarify the "mood disorder" I have is Bipolar and when I am in a depressed cycle it is hard to even do the everyday things. I wish I could " snap out of it" it is nothing to do with IQ or Lack thereof. But I thank you for the reply even though it could have been worded better. Salaam Nazzy47

Assalaam alaikum,

The most important cure for anything is the Quran. Sura Fatia is a cure. Salat is critical.

Now. Let's get practical. First, once you have repented forgive yourself. It is over. You can not look over your shoulder and doubt yourself. Move forward.
Fast, it keeps you occupied. You are at an alert level not to fall into the whispers of shytan; and does he send your head spinning.

I just finished reading an article that describes how critical it is to eat that which is good for you. Dates, barley, honey are excellent. Black seed oil is good.
I find juicing for a week gives you energy; the good kind. And you feel very full.

We are all so lazy and busy with nothing we forget how important it is to call upon Allah subhana wa taala all day long. When any irrational thought occurs call immediately upon Allah subhana wa taala.

Calling upon Allah subhana wa taala helps us to slow down at times. You gain control over the emotional spike. Call upon Him and say You are the most Merciful of those who have Mercy, I am of the unjust, forgive me ( forgive me as I use the poor English translation of this dua).

Call upon Him and say There is no power but Him.

You will be focusing on Him and not the emotion that is calling you at the specific time.

Sister, there are dua for anxiety and stress. Use those daily to wipe away the fears that shytan places in your heart.

Too, zakat is important. I think of Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet, swas, who gave away her wedding dress on the day she was married.

So you ask why are you talking about dua and remembrance of Allah subhana wa taala when I ask for a natural cure. Because they work.

Please keep writing to us. If you need to PM us do so. We also have Sister Shyhijabi. She is an excellent contact for you.

Salaat, dua, seeking Allahs blessing there are your choice. Exert your will. You have a counselor, undergo the treatment in right spirit.

Seriously? Fruits? Vegetables? Honey? All this cures Bipolar Disorder? Are you joking?

Sister Nazzy, there is a very educated and qualified doctor here named sister Shyhijabi. She is a respected doctor and if you have medical questions, please refer to her. Please ignore the stay-home moms who can't even treat their own medical conditions

There's an Arabic saying: نجار باب بيته مكسور
which translates to "A carpenter whose house door is broken"
And thats what we have here.

Sister, all what i gonna say, are by experience: the cure is Duaa as Mohamed peace be upon him said the weapon of the believer is Duaa: سلاح المؤمن الدعاء
And Allah soubhanaho said in quran : Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." يقول تعالى : { الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُمْ بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ألا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ }. ( الرعد آية 28 )
So, our cure is Duaa, and remembrance of Allah.
If u like to make sure if u don't have an organic disease that cause u this condition : check if u have deficiency in vitamin b12, & vitamin D. and make sure if u don't have any disorder in your thyroid. Another thing, try to drink cinnamon as a tea, it boost the energy, and it enhances the mood.

You may try practicing sports too sister...I'm kind of in a nasty situation right now too and i think that sports will be beneficial to clear up my clouded mind and judgement. Because, you know, long as we sit and keep thinking, things get worse and tend to look much more complex than they are, but i believe we may achieve the thought of " I can do this" by sports and we can defeat inertia that surrounds us during depression.

I DON'T KNOW WHERE you are FROM, but this is just my suggestion, take a vacation to different country. or in your own country, take a vacation to a different state. EVERY YEAR if possible.

IF YOU ARE MARRIED, ASK PERMISSION FROM HUSBAND, AND GO WITH HIM. IF HE REFUSE NOT TO GO, BECAUSE OF FINANCIAL SITUATION, THEN DON'T FORCE HIM. IF HE AGREED TO SEND YOU, GO WITH A FAMILY MEMBER.

if you are not married THEN take A FAMILY MEMBER WITH YOU

I know a plant to use i searched its english name from internet and it says "St.john's wort". This is a plant and you can make its tea. I've taken its drugs but if you want you can get it and make its tea.

Boil stjohns wort for 10 minutes. After then wait until it gets warm. Then drink it. You should drink this tea twice a day. Trust Allah, Allah will make you better. Say ya Ganiy, ya Mughni, Ya Fattah , ya Razzaq, ya wahhab. Do sport and dance.
