Reciting surah in salah/nafil

aslam o alaikum wa rahmatuAllahi wa barakatuhu,

I have a question that i haven't been able to get an answer.
When there are virtues of some surah like surah mulk before sleeping and surah kahf on friday
if one memorizes these surahs, it would it same reward if the person were to read the surahs while praying his sunnah prayer or nafil prayers?
or it is important to read them in a separate sitting

Since the Salaf haven't restricted the matter to reciting in Salah or outside of it, the matter is open so it is hoped that :Allah: will reward the reciter (either way) and the virtues granted.
