A'salaamu Alaikum
When I was studying Ancient Egyptian and Macedonean/Soma Script, the books that i was using were set out in the following manner:
Hierogyphic or Cuniform, Underneath each pictograph one would find the corresponding word in it's articulate format for better pronounciation
Underneath that one would find the corresponing English word or terminology.
This format made reading and translation easy.
The English version of thw Qur'an on the other hand is set out with the English text on the left, The Arabic script on the right, and on the bottom of each page there are explanantions.
This format may well teach me what is written, but it does not teach me the correct pronounciation of Arabic terminology.
Whether or not I will be able to eventualy read the Arabic script, I do not know. As one gets older ones capacity for learning diminishes. I had enough trouble with katakana, Kanji, Hirugana and Chinese script, being mainly pictograph in nature.
My question, is there a Qur'an set out in another way to the one i have?
