Ibn Taymiyah's Opinions on the Nusayri Alawis

'Undoubtedly, waging Jihad against these Nusayriyah people and carrying out the Haad punishments against them is one of the greatest acts of obedience and most important obligations. It is better than waging Jihad against those Mushrikeen and People of the Book who do not fight the Muslims. Waging Jihad against these people comes under the same heading as waging Jihad against the apostates.' (Source 'Majmu Al Fatawa')

Assalammu Alaikum Brother,

Can you clarify what you mean please. Are you talking against Ibn Taymiyyah or the Alawites or another group? I am not sure what you mean. Am I correct in saying there are accusations of apostasy, either in the above quotation from Ibn Taymiyyah or from others who oppose the Alawites.

Neither Ibn Taymiyyah, the Salaf or the scholars in general advocate and embrace killing as a theme in its own right. What they opposed was aqeedah outside the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah as taught, described and enshrined in the Shariah of Islam.
