The need for another section?

Hello to all and any reading this post. :)

Much cheers to you and yours.

Firstly, as I've previously stated in the introductory part of the forum I am an 'Ignostic'.

I simply see no reason, evidence, etc for any deity(s).

My interest in joining and part time posting on this site is that I was working with people who were of the faith and hence thought it would be a good thing to look up what it is/was they were believing.

My reason for this post is that, while there is a sub section for Christians... there is lacking place for 'Others'.

Now, if folks are happy for my self to hang out and post along side those of Christian denominations, that's cool. :)

However, if people aren't quite happy with things... .then we've only here for any dialogue.

Wishing every one and all the very best.

Hello

Of my mind this Muslim - Christian Dialogue section covers well Christian thoughts as well every other ways to think, like yours. No need to create own section for all different believes or religions and Islam.

As this forum is for "turn to islam", I wish this is suitable place for everyone to find out for what we believe and get the answers if you are seeking more knowledge about Islam. As you wrote "I simply see no reason, evidence, etc for any deity(s)", then I wish for you a beneficial opportunity to find the reasons, evidences etc. for, not any deity, but for Allah.

:agreed:

Thank you for the reply.

On a technicality? Alla is a deity. So, yah, there's that. ;)

*Yes, I'm being silly with the contextual use of the English language.

To people of faith there is only one deity, the name is not that important.

As an agnostic rather than atheist have you yet to make up your mind on the existence of a creator at all? Do I understand an agnostic is "undecided" but an atheist has decided no God (creator) exists and we are here by chance?

If there were more people like P-Thulhu on the forum and there was a general call for a separate section then there might be a need to look into the possibility of creating one while weighing up the pros and cons of what it could and may entail. Otherwise the section may be empty most of the time and no discussions may occur, which would defeat the object of the section. There is also the possibility the only users or most posters may just be Muslims alone.

However, at present there have not been many voices that have made this request. I personally welcome you to the forum, appreciate your input both here and in the brothers section and hope you benefit and learn something about Islam at TTI.

Well... to be finicky and technically honest I'd have to go with the smushing together of the words and put myself as an Agnostic atheist.

Haven't seen any evidence of any deities. Still looking/question about and would be happy to trip over anything which might be about.

Perhaps I'd pigeon hole myself as some one who's currently happy with the idea that no deity exists, but would be happy to be shown that such does?

Hope that ramble makes sense.

As for the tail of your comment, that's a broad brush of ''Chance".

Much cheers to yourself.

Perfectly understandable and I'm happy for things as they are.

Am glad I'm not being 'In the wrong spot', as it were. :)

Much cheers to you and yours.

Thank you for your reply. :) It appears I may be the only christian that contributes on this forum, so I do not get very many replies to posts. Also I am pleased and happy to have you share.. "My section" of this forum :p tho it is very quiet here, this mainly because talking to oneself is not best practise. o_O

Obviously, as a christian I take my belief in God from the scriptures and how they are confirmed in the world around me and in my life. Muslims do the same I think, as do people of faith generally. In addition to the biblical arguments for God’s existence, I believe there are logical arguments.

First, there is the ontological argument. The most popular form of the ontological argument uses the concept of God to prove God’s existence. It begins with the definition of God as “a being than which no greater can be conceived.” It is then argued that to exist is greater than to not exist, and therefore the greatest conceivable being must exist. If God did not exist, then God would not be the greatest conceivable being, and that would contradict the very definition of God.

A second argument is the teleological argument. The teleological argument states that since the universe displays such an amazing design, there must have been a divine Designer. For example, if the Earth were significantly closer or farther away from the sun, it would not be capable of supporting much of the life it currently does. If the elements in our atmosphere were even a few percentage points different, nearly every living thing on earth would die. The odds of a single protein molecule forming by chance is 1 in 10243 (that is a 1 followed by 243 zeros). A single cell is comprised of millions of protein molecules.

A third logical argument for God’s existence is called the cosmological argument. Every effect must have a cause. This universe and everything in it is an effect. There must be something that caused everything to come into existence. Ultimately, there must be something “un-caused” in order to cause everything else to come into existence. That “un-caused” cause is God.

A fourth argument is known as the moral argument. Every culture throughout history has had some form of law. Everyone has a sense of right and wrong. Murder, lying, stealing, and immorality are almost universally rejected. Where did this sense of right and wrong come from if not from a holy God?

This aside God places no compulsion on any created souls belief in Him, Jesus said "God sends the rain upon the righteous and the unrighteous equally".. That is to say all souls are equal in Gods eyes. God does not need us or even our prayers. Yet, billions of people feel the need of God in their lives and draw great spiritual comfort from this belief. I don't think it is ever possible to prove the existence of God to one who seeks such proof in the absence of faith, because faith is the sum of all we hope for after this life has ended. Of course when we die it could be just an empty void of nothingness.. I like to think there is more to come, and it is greater and better than what we have. Having faith and believing thus enriches my life.

Apologies for that "broad brush"... Cheers also back at yourself. :)

You are welcome to post in the brothers section what's on your mind, they can be questions, perspectives, opinions, facts etc, both about Islam, religion and theology in general, abstract issues, politics, social relations, economics or anything else you wish to discuss that is important to you. I would be happy to oblige. Since you are respectful as a person it will be a pleasure to reply and I look forward to being of any assistance to you.

*Bows* Should I feel the need, I won't hesitate to post something (Hopefully of interest :p ) in the 'Brother's section.

*Here's a weird thought... where might some one undergoing a gender crisis post?

I semi-joke.

Much cheers to all.

Peace to you. :)

Where the article/s or topics lean more towards women or themes you feel they are better equipped to answer, you can post them in sections or areas where only the sisters can reply. If the opposite is true you are welcome to post them in the brothers section. If the issues are not restricted to either gender and are not 'sensitive' and can be general then you should post them in the general forums where anyone can respond. The choice is yours.
