Salaam,
You ask a question that is very thought provoking. I hope this will help. Even Hazart Suliman, the wisest, worked on baskets to earn his food. In Islam we are told to work, even if we don't have a penny we are told to gather sticks and sell them at the market place. The wives of the Prophet (swas) were adept at working in several trades, tanning, weaving, and wholesale.
The companions of the Prophet (swas) worked, went to battle, and worked. The Prophet never wasted time. It is essential in the make-up of Muslims to be productive.
Education. I am begining to rethink what education really means. What exaclty do we want to learn? There comes a time in a persons life where the only education of any substance is prayer.
Many of the subjects taught are superferlous. There is no meat in the content. We, as Muslims, have to be careful as to what we are studying. If we buy into Western education..many times it is a paper game and we come out with a sheet of paper and no skills.
You ask about a MBA...many of the prinicpals of economics and sound business practices are unethical and against the grain of Islam.
Should you work or pursue higher education. They serve two different purposes. Most of the brillant humans I have encountered have dropped out of school.
Please do not think I am bashing anyone. I am speaking the truth. I encourage everyone to work..it humbles you...I am a firm beliver in education. But, I caution you to think where will the degrees lead.
How will you edcuation give back to your community? How will your education help to raise your iman?
Fianlly, you need to spend a moment and listen to where your heart directs you.
