Keeping the beard is waajib not sunnah. If he shaves it for the sake of marriage, then he is committing a sin. Some people in the past would advise me saying not to have a beard before marriage.... too late lol, started growing it when I was 17, I'm now 20 (before that I would always keep some form of facial hair).

If a woman rejects a man for marriage due to his beard, then to me it's nothing but a sign of lack of taqwa and deen in the woman The least that can be said is that it's a deficiency in eemaan to reject a man on them grounds. That is because the beard, is something waajib, not sunnah. If you look at the hadeeth in Saheeh Al-Bukhari, maybe in the book of dress, there is a clear command to pardon or excuse (meaning to leave off) the beard, there is even a Laam al-Amr in the hadeeth, a Laam of command.

Check out the following fatwa given by Shaykh Hamaad Al-Ansaaree,

The shaving of the beard has with it four affairs, and they are:

1 Sinfulness to Allaah and His Messenger (Sallaallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam).

2 Changing the creation of Allaah The Mighty and Majestic.

3 Imitating the disbelievers.

4 Imitating the women.

If the woman have a problem with the beard then it's a bad start. The right one will come along when Allah wills. These issues (beard, Hijab etc.), should be discussed and made clear before marriage. Believe me it's a lot harder to resolve these problems after marriage. One should marry a woman who could set a good example for their children even if something should happen to him. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking we can marry anyone and teach them to practice deen later. This is deception to ourselves. Marriage is sacred and we should choose carefully, even if we have to be rejected 100 times or more. Our priority lies with Allah most high first.

Don't worry bro tell your uncle to leave his beard and not to care about if no one likes him. If your saying that no one likes him beacause his beard is untidy or something (no offence I'm nott trying to say something bad bout you)n then he should comb it, oil it if needed, or use shampoo on it when he takes a shower. Trust me bro a nice looking hair is a tidy kind of hair.

I advice him to look for a religious woman. Why should then be any problem there!

Lol. I shampoo mine. Combing is essential also! You have to remember that it is hair, and needs to be cleaned just as the hair of the head does. It may sound funny when we say that we shampoo it, but that's the reality, we do and we should (or anything else to clean it)! To be specific I use Sweet Sunnah shampoo. It's natural and has no nasty chemicals like SLS lol.

beards need to look clean and tidy as they are a representation of the owner. So a big straggly beard with bits of food in isn't going to give you a good rep!

To this day I have noticed something contradictory to popular myth about the beard. Most MUSLIMS I have seen with beards, never have food in it. It's amazing how I go and sit with beardless people and they end up with some food here and there, on their lips or other than that, and I or any other bearded brothers come out foodless and clean! You see the occasional spec and that is about it.
