i am seeking for a scientific proof.

al-Bukhaari (4635) and Muslim (157) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Hour will not begin until the sun rises from its place of setting. When it rises from its place of setting, all people will believe, but on that day ‘no good will it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before,’ [al-An’aam 6:158].”

I read somwhere that this happenend on planet Mars, is this true ?

is there a scientific proof that can be happened on earth?

The science of astronomy observed that the speed of planet Mars decreased in its course towards the eastern direction to the level we notice the “waver” between the east and the west, and on Wednesday the 30th July 2003, the planet movement apparently stopped going towards the eastern direction. Then in the months of August 2003 and September 2003, .Mars apparently changed its course in the opposite direction to the West- and that until the end of September. This movement is called “Retrograde Motion”.

Thus, some have speculated that this could happen by retrograde motion of planets. Retrograde motion is the apparent motion backwards in the sky as viewed from the Earth. Normal motion of planets in the sky is from west to east, but sometimes, outer planets seem to slow to a stop, reverse direction for a time, and then resume their original direction.

The applet (animation) below demonstrates how retrograde motion work. Watch Mars' apparent motion across the Earth's sky as the Earth passes Mars in their orbits around the Sun.

In above link provided (animation) you can see:
Sun at center is in yellow colour, Venus green colour, Earth Blue colour, Mars Red Colour. The relative motion between earth and mars is shown by drawing a line between earth and mars representing the "line of sight" of a observor from earth. Actually, if we see this phenomenon from mars earth already retrograde same time when mars retrograde but we as human need to see this from earth not from mars. Also, we need to see the sun retrograde and not the earth as part of fulfillment of the "sign".

So, you can also note that retrograde is just a "observation thing" between two moving planets i.e. earth and mars.

I was wondering if same could be observed between earth and sun. But i think not possible.

However it is our belief that it will occur and might occur sooner or later but we are unaware! Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) said: “One of the signs of the hour, the sun will rise from the west, where no longer Tauba (forgiveness) will be granted”! And the strange thing, most of our Shariah scholars mentioned that the rise of the sun from the west occurs only once, on that day, the sun will rise from the west, then again from the east, and continues until Allah wishes, and this is similar to what is happening to Mars, it stops, then it changes its course of direction for a short period of time, then returns to the way once it was.

Abu Hurayrah(RA) narrated that the messenger of Allah (Pbuh) said, “The day of the hour will not come until the sun rises from the west, if it rises and Allah places His hand at night to forgive his morning sinners, and places in the morning to forgive his night sinners until the sun rises from the west” (Muslim).

P.S: Allah can use any method any time to fulfill his signs. And Allah Knows The Best.

What happen to Mars is an observation from earth, but i don t think the same thing are applyed if we join sun and earth with a line like you suggest. cuz if we did we will see the retrograde mothion of sun " considering sun as a planet " and the sun is the center of the galaxcy!!!! and also Mars and earth have eleptic orbit and sun is the center. but earth don t have an eleptic orbit if we consider the motion around the center of galaxy. you see what i mean.

but anyway, i beleive that it will happen one day and i ask allah not to be here to see it.

Retrograde Motion!

Asslamo Allaikum Brother,

In my humble opinion retrograde motion DOES NOT prove that the sun can rise from the West....

Restrograde motion is about observation & not physical phenomenon....

Stuff like Splitting of the moon, physically occured.

I have explained about this in detail elsewhere on TTI!

Earth has eliptical orbit thats why we have different seasons of hot and cold. If it was circular orbit we will have same season all the year round. Moreover sun is not at the center of galaxy but the center of solar system. Anyhow,

In my first post i agreed that Restrograde motion is about observation & not physical phenomenon but I was trying to draw some possibilities on paper to see even this phenomenon could occur between earth and sun or not. After long time of trials, i too don't think it will be possible.

Initially i was thinking positively because:

If mars and earth can do why cant earth and sun, because mars, earth and sun are all in same solar system and move together. It is only difference in speed of two planets make this thing to appear. Similarly there is difference in speed of sun and earth too. So i thought it could work similar way.

But now i think that retrograde effect will not be possible to observe because the orbit of sun around the galaxy is very very large and on earth we are also moving with the solar system.

Anyway i also strongly beleive it will occur. We dont know how but for sure. Some says big explosion in earth oil reserves etc may cause earth to rotate in reverse direction for half day etc and some say due to the fact that earth change its poles in every many thousands years resulting something unexpected...and so on.
