(Reuters) - Three children were injured at lunchtime on Tuesday at a Houston elementary school when a gun fell out of a 6-year-old's pocket and went off in the cafeteria, Houston Independent School District officials said.

The boy who brought the gun to Ross Elementary in northeast Houston was injured, as were another boy and a girl, said Norm Uhl, a district spokesman. The injuries were minor, he said, but the children, all in kindergarten, were taken to a hospital.

A father of a student at the school, Kerry Brown, said that his son Khoran, 6, was one of the boys injured but not the one who brought the gun to school.

"I'm very disappointed and hurt," Brown said. "This is supposed to be an institution of learning and parents need to take better control of their kids."

Brown, who was leaving the school with daughter Kaylah, 8, after talking to school officials, said his son was not seriously injured. His wife was at the hospital with Khoran, he said.

It was not clear how the other boy got the gun or why he had it at school.

Uhl, the district spokesman, said grief counselors were at the school.

"The danger has passed," he said.

America and it's gun loving culture strike again. Not surprised it was in Texas either. How on earth does a 6 year old get a hold of a gun??

Assalamu`alaykum Warahmatullahi

There are tons of info on kids in America playing with real guns one recent was also of a little girl practicing on a shooting range. What I hate is when a kid in Palestine plays with a toy gun they say its nurturing them for future terrorists and here future cops?

Nothing but Muslimah
If it had happened in a Muslim school, and if if it was by mistake..

The media would have told...

"terrorist kids have taken gun to the school !!!!"
