Assalaam alaikum,
This is an example of the generosity of Allah subhana taala.
For those that have the ability and are proficient reciters of the Quran i.e they have ability and knowledge theirs is a good reward.
For those who are seeking knowledge and try their hardest there is double the reward. They are doing their best. And Allah subhana wa taala rewards the intention. They are putting twice the effort into gaining knowledge.
I love the thought that when walking to the masjid each step you take erases two sins. ( I have been walking to the masjid everyday !!)
