Assalamualaikum to all my Brothers & Sisters in Islam,

I hope everyone is in good health and your Ramadhan is going well, inshaAllah. :)

Alrite let me just start. I have an employer, my boss that is. She's a very nice person. I just began working with her about 2 months. She's understanding, and it is just nice working with her. She's a Catholic and she's into going to church. Like these few months, she has been attending a course known as the "Alpha Course" at her church.

Whenever she's having a phone conversation, I can hear coz I'm seated just beside her. So, sometimes she'll speak to her church friend on the phone about the verses and advising, encouraging each other. I admire the way how she's trying to learn and practice her religion. But as you know, I hope that she can practice it in this religion, Islam. I'm not sure how well she understand Islam. But, when I just started working with her, I saw this book "Gospel of Bahamas". I went thro it a bit, I saw that she made some notes in the book, highlighting the part where our prophet Muhammad :saw: was mentioned. I never asked her about it.

Lately, for the first time, we had a conversation on religion. Nothing much actually, we just share our life story. So, two days ago, I missed my lunch break (didn't notice the time). I asked her what time she's leaving the office coz it's either I go to the mosque (quite a walk away) or pray in the office if no one is around (I'm the only staff there and the office is just a tiny room). From there she asked about our prayer; how long it'll take to do a prayer. Then I answered her, stating that it depends on the recitation, and the raka'ats. Then, this question came to me. Something like this "Why is it different(raka'ats) at each timing(fajr, dzuhur, asr, maghrib, isya')?" Well, I was stuck there. I know bits of the answer, but I'm not so sure. Then, I told her that I'm going to read on that. Then, she said to go read on that and said that there's a logical answer to it. To make it clear for you all, she's not questioning our religion. So, I'm sure she just wants to understand Islam.

Now, I would like to know if anyone could post me an answer to the question she asked? Also, i would like her to understand more on Islam. How should I go about on that?

Thats about it for now. I hope you all or at least someone could help me out on this, inshaAllah. :hijabi:

Jazakallahu khair.

not sure of the answer but the Imam of my local Msque told me that in the Quran the number of Wings that the angels posses are 2 3 and4 that is the same number of Rakats that we pray suggesting that just as the angels fly we fly to Aallh in our prayer through supplications and prayer.

ps The Imam is not a sufi

Waalaikumsalam,

Thank you for the reply. I think I did not put the question clearly in my recent reply.
Since it says in the link (IslamQA) that it falls in the category of worship. There's no reason to it; "We hear and we obey." I don't think that'll assure her, would it? So how should I put it in a reasonable way, supported with evidence?

The answer is clearly there are two types of worship :
The rules of sharee’ah may be divided into two categories: those which may be understood on a rational basis; and those which are purely worship, the wisdom behind which is concealed from us and is not mentioned in either the Qur’aan or the Sunnah. :)
as muslim we worship for Allah with his shareaa islam...
there are lot of 3ibadatte which we know the wisdom from its and we don't know the wisdom from others as:
tawaf in hadje 7 times ..do you know the wisdom why we turn on kaaba 7 times in omra or hadje ....
do you know why the muslim have to kiss the black stone
do you know why muslim prayer 5 times every day
I think you have to read it again :) because it's rule in sharee'ah it's not an opinion
