Al-Diya’ Al-Maqdisi said in his book “The Prohibition to Curse the Sahabah” page 96:
One of the strangest stories was narrated to me by the grand shaikh Hussein bin al-Mu’ammir bin abi Hussein al-Mu’athin. He said: shaikh abul Mansour told me –he was a hafith of the book of Allah-:
When I was a young man I wanted to roam the lands. So I left Baghdad and went to Soor (a city in south Lebanon). I found a large group of Muslims fighting among themselves.
I said: What is the matter with them? I was told: Those are Sunnis fighting Shiah. So I sat to watch them. The Sunnis were victorious although they were much less than the Shiah. They killed 15 of them.
Then the Muslims went to the king -who was Christian- to seek judgment. I said to myself: There is nothing worth watching more than this.
So I entered with them the large house of the king, and found a man sitting on a bed wearing a shirt and pants made from raw material. He was ascetic.
He asked the translator: What is with the Mohammedans?
He replied: I don’t know.
The king said: Get the priest for me.
The priest came wearing a garment, pants and a hat made from wool. The king stood up and kissed his feet and made him sit in his place.
The king asked: What is with the Mohammedans?
The priest replied: O king! Didn’t Jesus have 12 disciples?
The king said: Yes.
The priest said: If you were informed of someone cursing them, what would you do to him?
The king said: I would kill him, burn him, grind his ashes and blow them in the wind.
The priest said: Muhammad had 10 companions, just like Jesus’ disciples, they believed and supported him. Those Sunnis love them. The others love only one and curse the remaining 9.
So the king said: Get them (Shiah) out from here.
Then he told his followers: Spit on them. And told the Sunnis: don’t talk to them anymore. They (Shiah) came to complain about you.
The Sunnis said: Had it not been for your high status we would have killed them all.
The king said: Killed them?! Those (Shiah) are neither Muslims nor Christians nor Jews.
