Al-salamu Aliakum brothers and sisters,

I hope you are happy and very well.

Our beloved Prophet, peace be upon Him, says:" Your faith (Iman) is not complete unless you love for your brother what you love for yourself." In another Hadith, He says (peace upon Him): "Such as believers in Toadhem Trahmahm likeness of the body and if he complained to a member of a breakdown rest of the body staying fever"

So, the question is here now: Have heard that there is a Muslim Nation called Kurdish nation of 40 Million population and has never had the right of independence like other nations in the world?! And have you heard that this nation has been persecuting for about a century?! Have you ever hear that the land of this nation (Kurdistan) was divided into four pieces by the British colonialists in Lausanne Treaty, and each of Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey got a part of its land. And what is the worse is that the Kurds have been deprived from every right under the authority of the aforementioned countries which pretend to be Muslim countries?? Do you know that the Kurds in Turkey, Iran, and Syria still do not have the right to study in their won language (Kurdish)??!! A Kurd in Turkey should speak Turkish, in Iran, Persian and in Syria Arabic!! Do you know Salahhadin Al-ayubi who defeated the Crusaders in Jerusalem, and conquered Jerusalem once agin? This great man was a Kurd! Still when the Crusaders read the name of Salahhadin Al-Ayubi even in the historical books, they lose their morale! Do you know the result of the maltreatments of the Persians, Arabs, in Iraq and Syria, and Turks towards the Kurds?! It led to the incredibility of some Kurds to Muslims and the result is very awful that I cannot talk about it. If you have not heard, then ask yourself if you are a perfect Muslim depending on the prophet's above saying (Peace Be upon Him). Now there are a large number of great Islamic figures among the Kurds and they are the best nation that so far has very tightly embraced Islam.
Here are some of the disasters happened to the Kurds:

1. In 1987-1988, (182,000) Muslim Kurds, men, women and children have been buried alive in a so-called process of Anfal by the former regime of Iraq.
Anfa means to take the property that you have got in the holy wars (Jihad), while you are fighting the disbelievers. But to use the concept of Anfal to a Muslim nation like Kurdish is itself a crime against an Islamic concept.
2. 18 young Kurdish girls among the (182,000) so-called anfalled people were chosen and sold to the Egyptian government to use them as prostitutes in the whorehouses in Egypt. Some two years ago(after 17 years being in Egypt)one of the girls in an Egyptian whorehouse wrote a letter to Iraqi Kurdistan and asked if there is a family recognizes her to get her out of the hell she was put in! They were sold while the rest of their families were buried alive!
3. 5,000 Muslim Kurdish people (from a one-day-old baby to an 100 year-old men and women) were killed by chemical weapons used by Iraqi air forces in the town of Halabja on March 16, 1988 (10:55 AM), remember Halabja was the center of Islamic thinking in Iraqi Kurdistan, and still it is. Those who remained after the chemical attack are still suffering from the result of the chemical weapons used there.
4. In 1991 in a mass exodus 2,000,000 (two million) Kurds from Iraqi Kurdistan immigrated to Iranian Kurdistan (most of them on foot) due to the wide-ranging attacks of the former Iraqi regime on the Kurdish region in Iraq. Remember it has been the greatest immigration in the history of mankind thousands and thousands of people died. I was at that time a 9 year-old child I lost between Iraq-Iran border, and entered Iran with no mother, father, brother or sister.
5. 8,000 Barzaninan Kurds Muslim and non-Muslim (all men) were anfalled in 1987, and their families still do not know the destinies of their men, and are still waiting for them who will never come back, for they were buried alive.
6. Apart from Halabja, Balisan and Shekh-wasana were also attacked by chemical weapons and the doors of the hospitals were closed at the wounded so as not to get treatment!
7. 4,000 villages were destroyed in late 1970s, including my village, each village at least had one mosque, and the mosques were also demolished. And the villagers were expelled to compulsory settlements with no even a single mosque, what was the worse was that there was no space in the settlements to build a mosque. I was born in a settlement which was weird to me and I remember the people close to us used a house as a mosque were for the first time I was taught some verses of the Holy Quran.
8. In Kurdistan of Turkey, the Kurds have not had the right to study, write or publish in their won God-given language - Kurdish- but they must use Turkish. For the first time during the reign of PM Mr. Rajab Taib Ordugan (since 1920s) there a radio channel in Turkey can broadcast some hours in Kurdish!
9. In Syria, I am not very much aware, but the Kurds are on the edge of demise. They do not have the right to use their God-given language -Kurdish- in the official establishments including schools and unicersities! To have the right to share in politics is something forbidden.
10. The Kurds in Iranian Kurdistan always claim that the Iranian government opened the gate for drugs to be sent to the Kurdistan region in Iran, while it is forbidden to the Persian region. The Kurds say this is a another policy of Iranian government to make the Kurdish new generation drunk lest they think of Politics!
11. Once again in Iran Qazi Muhammad the Islamic leader of Iranian Kurdistan revolution, established an Islamic Republic for the Kurds in Iran as the simplest right of any nation, but after his Islamic republic was destroyed, he and four of other leaders in the republic were arrested by the Iranian Former Shah Regime and after two hour of prying they were hung to death in the field of Chwarchra in the center of the Mahabad city, the capital of the Islamic republic.
12. Shekh Nasri Subhani was a great Islamic Kurdish figure, his creative Islamic thinking was unique, he was an imaginary Sunni Islamic Scholar, if he was not poisoned to death by the Iranian regime in 1987?, he would be a great Islamic figure in the entire of the Islamic world.

What I have so far mentioned is a little out of a world of crimes committed against the Kurds. The awful result of all these maltreatments by the four countries, namely; Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Iran, led to an unfortunate deviation of some Kurds from Islam, and embracing ideologies imported from the West, like; Socialism, Marxism, Communism, Secularism, etc. But do not forget there are so many Islamic political parties and movements and Islamic centers, especially in Iraqi Kurdistan, for Iraqi Kurds have established a semi-autonomous government since 1991.

Now the Kurdish Islamic political parties, centers and personalities, including me, are always faced a question by the non-Islamic ones:” If to be a Muslim is to be a merciful, helpful and cooperative to other Muslims, then why the Kurdish Muslims have been persecuted so harsh by the Arabs, Turks, and Persians, who are called Muslims?!”

You, my brothers and sisters in Islam, tell me how to answer them???

:salam2:
Dear friend, the pain and suffering of kurdish people is our pain and suffering. You have a good point. If the palestinians and the chechnians and bosnians are suffering, you would argue, they are suffering at the hands of non-muslims but the kurdish problem is unique in the sense that the 3 important nations of the islamic world (Iran, Turkey and Syria) are oppressing their kurdish population.

But you should separate what the governments of these countries are doing from what the people of these countries want. No doubt there are nationalists in these countries (persia, arab and turkish nationalists) who would like to see an end to the kurdish problem by either assimilation or complete subjugation of the kurds. But the true muslims in these countries consider the kurds their brother and sisters.

You should tell your friends in Kurdistan that in a universal islamic government the kurds will not be oppressed by the turks or persians or arabs and that Kurdistan will be governed by the kurds and for the kurds. Islam does not allow any nation to rule another nation. The nationalists think that to gain greatness they have to depress our cultural differences and local languages while Islam teaches us that we are all created by god and god created us in different languages and tribes 'on purpose' so that we know each other and the best of us are those who have the most Taqwa.

You should tell your friends that the islamic republic of Iran, Saddam and the dreadful military government of Turkey are not representatives of Islam and muslims. The turkish generals don't allow our turkish sisters to freely wear their hijab at workplaces and universities. The Ba'th party which was founded as a secular socialist arab nationalist party had and has nothing to do with Islam.

And finally, you cannot live in a region full of persians, turks and arabs until you love them and the only way to do this is through Islam. When we strengthen the ties between our nations through Islam, we become brothers and sisters (as god calls us) regardless of our cultural backgrounds. What else can replace Islam to unite us and bring peace and brotherhood and cooperation to the region? Turkish nationalism? Arab nationalism? Persian or Kurdish nationalism? These are disuniting ideologies imported from the west.

Good luck with you in Iraqi Kurdistan and we hope that all nations are one day free so that they submit only to Allah and not another nation.

:salam2: brother
Islam is a call to unite all people of the world by love of their creator and the teachings of his noble prophets , Islam is a call for love, mercy, unselfishness, piety ,modesty, sincerity, ........all that is noble and pure ......all those governments that oppress people are not islamic at all.....and such acts which you mentioned are forbidden in Islam... It makes every true muslem cry with blood not tears.

Salaam,

First, thank you for illuminating our plight.
Second, we are one ummah and we forget. It is the nature of humans to forget. We have become many peoples because we put our nationality, gender, occupation, social status etc. above Islam. We have forgotten that we are one soul, one body.
Third, continue to remind us of our obligations to all Muslims. We need to purge ourselves of forgetfulness.
Finally, Allah will question us..and how we forget.

Assalamu alaikum brother SabirIslamdost!

I completely agree with what brother hajhajti wrote in his beautiful reply.
Every muslim nation that has stood bravely against the enemies of islam have been brutally punished till this day.
One more example is Afghanistan. It stood bravely against British empire and its colonial desires in that region and you can see what trials and tribulations it has gone through ever since.
The muslim neighbours of Afghanistan has also contibuted alot more in the desctruction of Afghanistan, but I don't blame the people of these countries, but their governments.
All (or at least most of)these rulers who rule muslim countries are either dictators, puppets of the kuffars or not interested in the islamic cause.

Brother, it is not the muslim population of muslim countries that inflict such harm to Kurdistan of Afghanistan, but their governments which don't even give their own people their rights in true meanings.
These unislamic governments should not be the cause for us to distance ourselves from the chosen deen of Allah swt, but instead look for the underlying reasons why these things are happening.
We can make a difference by getting involved with our muslim neighbours and removing the unislamic barriers of negative nationalism, prejudices and hatred.

May Allah swt creat love among muslims of the world and replace their brutal and unislamic, puppet governments with the real islamic governments and kind rulers.

Asalaamalykum Bro,

Its really Sad to know all this,May Allah help you All.

Well, I believe tht you shld tell the person not to percieve Islam by its followers,as they can be wrong. You can tell them to read quran and realize its mightiness or you can also suggest them to read sum of the stories Of the prophets(P.B.U.T)...or they can also read abt the good muslim rulers like one Of the Ottoman empire "Salahudin"(a movie kingdom of heavens on his story)...
