I have a question: Can a non praying Muslim act as a wali? Lets say for example, whether or not your brother can be your wali if he does not pray?
I heard this from a friend who has yet to provide me with the proof but Im really anxious sorry...one thing that was mentioned was the below hadith and how a non muslim brother or father for example, cannot act as the wali of their reverted sister/daughter and so an imam would be appointed for her...
“The difference between us and them (the hypocrites) is prayer. He who intentionally misses prayers is a non believer.” (Tirmizi)
