A Question about Intercession of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) on the day of Judgement.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Ramadan Mubarak! Hope this post finds you in Good health, Alhamdulilah!

I have always believed that intercession of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) in this life is not possible, i.e., it is haram to ask for Prophet Muhammed(SAW) to pray on behalf of us in this life. Am I right? Because, I don't know the exact hadeeth or ayyaah in Qur'an that says this. I tried to do research online and find different contradicting answers. So, I thought it is wise to ask for proof and evidence in the TTI forum.

One more question, I have also heard that on the day of the Judgement, the Prophet (SAW) will intercede and ask for mercy of Allah for all of us. I also believe that intercession of the Prophet (SAW) is permissible on the day of the Judgement. Am I right on this? Please give me proof or evidence regarding this from hadeeth or Qur'an too. I also heard that the Prophet (SAW) has a dua which he has saved for the day of judgement for his people (the Ummah). While the other prophets (Pbuh) have used them during their lifetimes, Prophet Muhammed (SAW) has saved it for the day of Judgement. Is it true? Please give proofs for this as well.

I hope I didn't ask anything wrong. I find very contradicting answers online and it is very confusing.

Hope Allah helps in finding answers.

Jazakallahu Khair!

Thank you!

Wa-alaykum-us-Salaam wa'Rahmatullaah brother,

Ramdaan Mubarak to you too brother (not many days/nights left now, ahhh!)

Regarding your first point, the post below contains some more evidence (slightly the same though I think).

I also posted most of those verses as an MP3 with Urdu interpretation of the meanings (because I shared it with someone else and thought I would share it here). It is in the section link below if you are interested (Selected Verses One and Two).

Regarding the last part then: It is narrated in Bukhari and Muslim that Anas ibn Malik (radiyAllaahu anh) said: The Messenger of Allah :saw: said:

"Every Prophet asked for something or every Prophet was granted one supplication for his nation, but I have postponed my supplication in order to intercede for my ummah on the Day of Resurrection."

(Jaami' al-Usool, 10/475, hadith no. 8009).

In Saheeh Muslim it is narrated from Jaabir ibn 'Abdullah that the Prophet :saw: said:

"Every Prophet is granted one supplication for his nation, but I have postponed my supplication in order to intercede for my ummah on the Day of Resurrection."

(Ibid, 10/475, hadith no. 8010).

It is narrated in Bukhari and Muslim, and in Sunan at-Tirmidhi, from Abu Hurayrah (radiyAllaahu anh) that the Messenger of Allah :saw: said:

"Every Prophet has one supplication that is granted to him, and every Prophet hastened to make that supplication (in this world). But I have postponed my supplication in order to intercede for my ummah on the Day of Resurrection, and if Allah wills, it will include every one of my ummah who dies not associating anything in worship with Allah."

(Ibid, 10/476, hadith no. 8011).
