A study guide with the Qur'an?

I dont want to sound stupid, but I have problems with "reading comprehension" Which is comprehending what you're reading. I can read a whole book and not really get anything from it.

When reading books for learning I like to have a study guide with me, because it helps with the comprehension.

Is there a study guide ANYWHERE for the Noble Qur'an? Or even a small quiz on each chapter of the Qur'an? To know im understanding the correct points.
Does anyone have one they could scan or even send me?

PLEASE do not say "read commentary" Because that doesnt really help the reading comprehension issue.

Assalaam walaikum,

Quick question: when you hear it being read can you comprehend? Is that your modality of learning?

I have issues with tests and quizzes. Life is a test enough. Discussion is the best way to enlightenment. Discuss what you read..even if it is with us.

There are times when I don't post but I always read Brother Shaladin's posts daily. Does that help?

Most masjids have discussion groups for women during the day ..if not create one.

Salaam Aapa, I know what you mean when you ask what my modality of learning is. Im best at learning when writing something. Like, my way to memorize al fatiah and other prayers are when i write it over and over and over while saying it.

Im not a member of a Masjid. But I know a good Muslim friend who is part of a big Masjid, ill ask her too :shymuslima1:

Assalaam walaikum,

So you have to be "interactive". You learn best by doing.

Please go with your sister to the masjid.

But, try this. After you read an ayat go type the ayat on a word document. Do this about three times. Do this until you can separate each word. Each word should start to make sense.
Take the time to go to dictionary.com and define any word that is new to you. Reread each line.
Take the time to think it through. And if you need more clarification post a question here. We can always learn from each other.

OK?

Sister alf, do you think reading the same thing from different translators would help? The Quran is a heavy read, and sometimes even after I read the commentary, I still don't get the exact meaning. But what I did once was look for a different translation, and compare the same ayah. It helped to make more sense.

And just a reminder if you haven't done so already, but make supplication to Allah SWT first and foremost to help you understand His Words better. :)

I have read 3 Qur'ans and there was one in "modern English" which was the easiest to comprehend. But it was borrowed and I plan to buy it soon insha allah. Kind of expensive so i'm saving up for it.

The author is Majid Farkhay, its excellent.
