Our Prophet (sav) is saying: "Whoever says 'Lâ ilâhe illallah, Muhammedun Rasulallah' will enter Jennet." and "I have been ordered to fight with people as long until they say 'Lâ ilâhe illallah, Muhammedun Rasulallah'."

These hadiths are sahih (true). And the Messenger of ALLAH doubtlessly spoke the truth. It is important, how people say 'Lâ ilâhe illallah, Muhammedun Rasulallah'. By saying 'Lâ ilâhe illallah', people should have the following understanding: It is ALLAH who created me, my mother, my father, the whole mankind, the worlds, the skies. the universe, everything from the smallest to the largest. He gave me organ, He gave me mind. He gives me my daily bread and He drowns me in blessings. He entrusted us the rulership on the world under His name. And to protect this trust, He enlighted us with prophets and divine books. We do not accept any other Rabb than Him, no other leaders but His messengers and no other guidebook but the holy Qur'an. And ALLAH let us know, that as long we are acting according to His laws, the angels would affirm it.

In Sûretul Nahl, ayat 36, ALLAH says: "For We assuredly sent amongst every people a Messenger, with the command, 'Serve ALLAH, and eschew Evil': of the people were some whom ALLAH guided, and some on whom Error became inevitably established. So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied the truth." So tevhid means, to begin with human beings basic thoughts and to obey the borders ALLAH has set in your daily life, to struggle for the protection of these borders and to live according to ALLAH's measures and the Sunna, which is the way to carry through ALLAH's rules. The essence of the tevhid is not only to say it, but to understand the message, that it gives. So first we have to understand the responsibilities of tevhid and then we have to surrender to a 'tevhidian' wolrd view.

It is necessary that a muslim, as an individual or as a group, has to live tevhid in his life. This is not something that can be abandoned or postponed. The Sûratul Tevbe says in ayat 24: "Say: If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your mates, or your kindred: the wealth that ye have gained; the commerce in which ye fear a decline: or the dwellings in which ye delight - are dearer to you than ALLAH of His Mesenger, or the striving in His cause; then wait until ALLAH brings about His decision: and ALLAH guides not the rebellious." With this ayat it is very clear, what will happen to someone, who does leave the way of the Book, the Sunna and the tevhid.

Tevhid: means oneness, unity, solidarity, dialogue. The tevhid 'Lâ ilâhe illallah' is within the Esma ul Husna (the most beautiful names) the word that contains the meaning tevhid. Because the name 'ALLAH' collects all the meanings of the Esma in itself. It is a reputation, that is the banner of greatness. Therefore we are saying with the tevhid that there is no god but ALLAH, that there is no other Creator than ALLAH, that there is noone else, who is giving one's daily bread than ALLAH, that there is nobody else than ALLAH, who can give life, that there is no other purpose than ALLAH and that there is nothing else than ALLAH, that is worth to be loved. Tevhid means, more knowledge, to work more, more love and to look at each other with mercy.

With the religion Islam, the religion of tevhid is meant. When ALLAH speaks about tevhid in the Qur'an, He told about the mushrik this: Sura Az-Zumar, 45 "When ALLAH, alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who believe not in the Hereafter are filled with disgust; but when other than He are mentioned, behold, they are filled with joy!" - Sura Al-Isrâ, 46: "And We put coverings over their hearts and minds lest they should understand the Qur'an, and deafness into their ears: when thou dost mention thy Rabb - and Him alone - in the Qur'an, they turn on their backs, fleeing from the truth." - and Sura Al-A'râf: "They said: "Comest thou to us, that we may worship ALLAH alone, and give up that which our fathers used to worship bring us what thou tellest the truth!" Summing up we can say: Tevhid is the name of the belief-unity, which has the basis to bring the numbers of idols down to one ALLAH, to place the belief in ALLAH in the hearts and to live Islam according to book and sunna. Tevhid means to organize each part of our body not to leaf the orders and the consent of ALLAH.

ALLAH is AHIR; This means ALLAH is the End where all connections are heading towards and where they all keep staying. Everything is in need of something, and that something is in need of a third thing. This chain is growing longer until it reaches ALLAH. ALLAH is the End of the last chain. And this brings ALLAH's Oneness in appearance. And this is also what our beloved Prophet Muhammed Sallallahu Aleyhi Ve Sellem tried to realize: To make the people believe in only one ALLAH. To intensify the belief of Oneness. For tevhid is the source of the power to hold out against the tyranny. It is a system, placed between birth and death. From the view of the world we can see in the fineness of tevhid, that it is a general point of view, which is directed to culture, history, the wholeness of civilization, truth, world, location and time and destiny.

In Tevhid, the truth can be splitted into two groups. First, in belief there is ALLAH, who is Subhan and Teâlâ. Only He is a deity. He is deathless. He is Creative and Exalted. He will stay everlasting as the Absolute One, who is in no need of any helper or partner. Second, it is the system of time and location, experimentation and creations. This includes all creations, the world of goods, the plants and the animals, human beings, jinns, angels, heavens, the earth, jennet and jehennem and the coming into being after being created. The characteristics of Creator and creation is absolutely different. Neither can the Creator become a creation, nor can the creations become the Creator. And this is the point, where the belief of tevhid begins. It is to believe in ALLAH's existence, in His Oneness, in the fact, that He has not been born and that He is not begotten; He is far from time and location, everything that is created, has been created with His command; that everything has been created for a purpose; that human being has been created with the feeling of responsibility that he is the caliph of ALLAH; and to accept the religion without leaving any space for any doubt. To obey ALLAH, to fullfill His commands means to achieve prosperity and reconciliation, happiness and peace of mind.

The commands which are farth are forming the basics of tevhid and the principles of Islam. Those commands are also the basics of the celestial inspirations. Each Prophet has been teaching these principles and they built their activities on them. Anyway, the kernel of the islamic civilization is Islam. The kernel of Islam is tevhid; and doubtlessly the kernel of tevhid is to accept ALLAH's Oneness and the fact that He is the Only, the Absolute and the Exalted Creator and that He is the Possessor and Ruler of everything. Tevhid is giving the islamic civilization its personality by uniting all its elements and making an whole out of them. ALLAH says: "I have created Jinns and mankind only to worship Me. I swear, that I have sent a prophet to every umma to notify them to worship ALLAH and to leave the idols." - "Your Rabb has concluded that you should not worship anybody else but ALLAH. Do worship ALLAH! Don't put any partner to His side. Come and let me tell you what ALLAH has proclaimed as haram for you, namely, to put a partner to His side."

These ayats, which are taken from the Qur'an are showing clearly that the purpose of human being's existence is to worship only ALLAH. Thisis the essential of the whole message that Hathrad Muhammed (SAV) is telling us with the words of ALLAH. So this means, that no command in Islam can be constant and lasting without tevhid. The whole of the religion is, that human being serves ALLAH, fulfills His commands, and the obligation to respect the prohibitions. The moment somebody deviates from tevhid, he is in loss. Because to deviate from tevhid means to doubt that ALLAH is the One and Only. Without Tevhid, there can not be Islam. If there was no tevhid, people would doubt the Sunna of Rasulallah (SAV), his decrees would be shaken and the institution 'Prophet' would lose its value. Therefore the fundament of taquva, religiousness and grace is to embrace the principle of tevhid. This is why ALLAH and Rasulallah (SAV) have always exalted the fulfillment of tevhid, and why they have called it the reason for the highest rewards.

ALLAH says in the holy Qur'an: "The ones who have faith and who do not let their faith come together with injustice, are the ones who have for sure justice with themselves. They are people who have found the right way." Ubeyde Ibn el Samit relates that our beloved Prophet (SAV) has said: "Whoever witnesses that there is nothing but ALLAH, that Muhammed (SAV) is His Prophet, that ALLAH is the Rabb of Meryem and Isa (AS), and that Jennet and Jehennem are real, are the ones, whom ALLAH will put into Jennet. By saying this witness loudly, a muslim shows how much he is committed to tevhid and he will have accepted and defined the absolute Oneness and Highness of ALLAH, all creations, all livings and the most important principles of life and all religions.

Qur'an is saying about ALLAH like this: "He is the Creator of the skies and of the earth. When He has decided something to be, He just says 'Be!' and it will be. He is one only ilah (god), He is Exalted. And there is no other ilah. He is alive. He is Present with His Personality and His Perfection. He is far from what people talk about Him. Eyes cannot reach Him." This means, that Tevhid gives the muslims the possibility to see themselves as the axis of history. Because he is the only kalipha who is able to fulfill the wishes of ALLAH in history. The faith of Islam is the truth, that has been given to mind.

ALLAH explains the rightness of Islam in the holy Qur'an like this: "With this inspiration the truth has come and the false has disappeared. For sure, the false always will disappear. Now it is very clear, what is qufr and what is faith." From the point of view of someone who knows, this will bring him to know Tevhid (that ALLAH is in reality el HAK and that He is One.). We know from ayets and hadis, that human being is created in such a way, that he is able to reach the truth.

The reason and purpose of everything can be understood with the knowledge of Tevhid. Islam eradicates superstition, sorcery, the false and spiritism with Tevhid. The truth can be achieved by entering the door of Tevhid. Somebody, who enters through this door, is like a good renter, who is assigned by ALLAH; and he will understand, that he has to protect the property of the Creator. When a human being dies, who has the characteristic of an observer of creation, he has to give back the trust, that ALLAH gave in him, in a better condition, than it was, when ALLAH gave it to him. Everything that is created, is according to human being. Suns, moons, stars, the vault of heaven, and the seas, together with all beings inside have been given to human being to investigate, to examine, to use, to benefit, to be gratified, to be at ease and to contemplate. Creation is for human being. But all these gifts are at the same time for his responsibility. The moral and religious limits of this responsibility is given by Tevhid. Because according to Qur'an, ALLAH has given to human being a trust, which had been rejected before by the skies and the earth. To make the human being able to be a khalifa, ALLAH has equiped them with the senses, intellect and comprehension, and by blewing into them His own breath, ALLAH created mankind in a perfect way. Therefore human being's task is universal. This task will end at the Day of Judgement.

Tevhid is a right of ALLAH over His servants. And only ALLAH can fix its limits. Ayet number 50 of Sura Al-Maide says: "Do they then seek after a judgment of the days of ignorance? But who, for a people whose faith is assured, can give better judgement than ALLAH?" Sura Al-Bakara, ayet number 163 says: "And your Ilah is VAHID, He is the One and Only Ilah. There is no ilah but Him. He is RAHMAN, He is RAHIM." In the light of these ayats Tevhid defines, that ALLAH is One and Partnerless, concerning His Personality, His Attributes and His Activities. The Oneness of ALLAH, the Oneness of His Sovereignity, the Oneness of His Divine Attributes, the Oneness of the source of His Authorization and the Oneness of the Order of life is the Oneness, that people are dedicated to.

Tevhid is intelectualism. It is the evaluation of the material and the spiritual spheres within the frame of the holy Qur'an and the Sunna. The principal of Tevhid is the necessity of science. Tevhid is moral, justice, a social fairness, faith, belief and action, to be selim (healthy). It is to live according to Islam. Not to render difficult means to ease. It means to love, to tolerate, to benefit of ALLAH's blessings in a legal way, to thank and to utilize time. It is the total of the family. It is the equality of the people, the protection of the world we are living in. It is the liberty of Conscience.

As the khalifa of ALLAH, human being has been crated with the required talents and peculiarities to fullfill his duty. ALLAH, the Creator of the universe gave His secret, which was the belief in Tevhid, to the first human being, Hathrad Adem (AS); then this knowledge has been renewed from time to time through prophets. And each time this knowledge becomes more perfect. ALLAH has worked up Tevhid that much in the Qur'an, so that everybody who examins it gets entranced by it. In Sura Ali Imran, ayat 2, ALLAH says: "ALLAH! There is no ilah but He, - He is HAYY (the Living) and He is KAYYUM (the Self-Subsisting, the Supporter of all)."

For all these reasons, to understand Tevhid, we have to understand Qur'an; to understand Qur'an, we have to understand Rasulallah (SAV) and we have to live his Sunna. Tevhid is the basic of the Sharia, the law, the culture and the civilization. The muslims call this the unity of ALLAH, the truth and life. Really we have to understand Tevhid in the scope of this unity. Tevhid cannot be classified according to the capacity of the people. In each subject and event of which Qur'an is telling us, there is the necessity of solidarity, partnership and similarity. This means, that it is not possible to divide Islam into different classes. There differences are according their minds, their taqvas, their beliefs, their faiths and their 'tehvidian' life. Nobody can make ALLAH be more pleased of himself, than ALLAH allows. May ALLAH make all of us muslims, who worship sincerely, who avoid all kind of shirk and whose only place to refugee is Qur'an and the Sunna.

Oh Mankind, oh you sons of Adem: Let's wake up, time is passing by. Our return will be to ALLAH. We came from ALLAH and we will return to ALLAH.

May the Selam, the Rahmet, and the blessing of the whole world be on all of the muslims. AMIN.
