I think abstinence only education is just putting a very ineffective bandaid over a deep wound in the West. More needs to change before abstinence only education will do an ounce of good. I support sex education that teaches both abstinence and contraception, perhaps with an emphasis on on abstinence (though I don't know how much good it will do if the teen in question has no religious convictions - very few non-religious people abstain from pre-marital sex). Nothing more, and nothing less.
Though I am glad to hear that more and more teens are abstaining. But I wonder how many of those abstaining teens will go on to to have pre-marital sex as adults.
