As Salamu 'Alykum,

Brothers and Sisters in Islam,

Although I had done Shahada both alone and online, tonight I was able to do Shahada at a Mosque! Tonight I did my first Wadu in a Mosque! Tonight I participate in group prayer for the first time! Tonight, Alhamdullilah, Insha Allah, I have made many Muslim friends as well as found my family! Subhan'Allah!

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

The brother and sister who drove me to the Mosque tonight shared these Ayat with me:

Luqman
Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Lo! Allah, He is the Absolute, the Owner of Praise. (26) And if all the trees in the earth were pens, and the sea, with seven more seas to help it, (were ink), the words of Allah could not be exhausted. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise. (27)

Yes- that Ayah means that if all the trees in the world were pens, and all the water on Earth and in the oceans were ink, the greatness of Allah could still not be expressed truley even after they ( pens and ink) were used up.

As Salamu Alaykum,

It felt like water after days in the desert. It felt like the weight of my entire life was lifted off. It felt like return home, after a long absence.

When I left home at 17, home hadn't felt like home for a couple of years. When I returned from Vietnam, my parents had sold their home and bought a small home. Everything that I had left at my parents home was gone. I had no home to return to from Vietnam. I finally have the feeling of home again. :)

Al-Room
So set thy purpose (O Muhammad) for religion as a man by nature upright - the nature (framed) of Allah, in which He hath created man. There is no altering (the laws of) Allah's creation. That is the right religion, but most men know not - (30)

Aslamau alaikum!! Mashaa Allah, may Allah increase your iman, keep you steadfast on the path of truth, and make things easy for you.

Could you please share with us your experience at the mosque? I assume you went there and you didn't know anyone yet, right? How did the brothers treat you and how did you feel when you were there? Sorry for asking so many questions, but perhaps this could help our friend Valerie inshaa Allah and motivate her to go. :) I am unable to be of any help as I have been born Muslim alhamdulela, and she probably needs to hear it from a revert. :) JazakaAllah khairan. :)

As Salamu 'Alaykum,

I was blessed in my first visit to the Mosque in that there was a "MEET YOUR ISLAMIC NEIGHBORS" event where a presentation was given by Brother Tariq who drove me to the Mosque with his wife (who is very knowledgeable about Islam and has helped me with her wisdom).

Before the presentation, there was a meal with many delicious dishes. I tried a little of each, but left the baklava for the visitors who may not have tasted it before.

I saw a brother sitting by himself and with his permission joined him at his table where we were later joined by another brother and two of the visitors.

After the meal it was time for prayer and a few of the brothers assisted me in my Wadu. I have a broken vertebrae and had difficulty putting my socks back on my feet. Immediately, one of the brothers was assisting me.

After Wadu, we entered the prayer hall and I was assisted with the Arabic Shahada after first stating it in English ; so, as to verify that I understood
Ash-hadu an la elaha illa Allah wa ash-hadu Mohammadan Rasul-Allah and all of the various aspects of Truth to which Muslims testify their belief.

After Shahada, I was directed to an appropriate spot to participate in Salah.

Everyone was very polite and kind. I was welcomed by possibly every man there and several of the sisters welcomed me in appropriate manners.

The thing that surprised me was that all of the Muslims that I met desired to do more in their deen. Many expressed how that longed to share Islam with those they met daily. All show deep respect and love for Allah and joy at having a new brother in the faith.

One of the bothers who was an administrator (sorry I don't know the terms yet.) gave me a certificate of Shahada, a transliterated copy of Al Qur'an, and a prayer rug. The Brother and Sister who drove me to the Mosque gave me some books, a dvd, and a beautiful hat. But, the most important gift was their kindness and genuine joy at my Shahada.

I would encourage everyone who has not yet committed their life to Submission to Allah and Peace to thoroughly investigate Islam as that which is missing in their lives. Their can be no Peace without Allah. Returning to that which is the natural order can only bring good. So, many people are excited about having seen or spoke to a celebrity. Imagine, being given a daily audience with The Creator. Allahu Akbar. Alhamdulillah. Subhan'Allah.

I'm here :) I know I wrote to you earlier, Frank, but I want to say again, thank you for sharing this experience. It is so inspiring to hear about experiences that are so moving.

It reminds me to not focus so much on the details and remember what is truly important.

Thank you :)
