Almond Chocolate Cake

Assalamualikum.This recipe deserves a special thread.
I did it yesterday and it turned out so good.It was my first attempt though :)

there are two parts for this cake
  1. baking the cake
  2. prepare the chocolate dressing/chocolate sauce
Ingredients for Cake

  • 2/3 cups /140 g/10 Tbs/5 ounces of BUTTER
  • 2 cups of FLOUR
  • 1 cup of MILK
  • 1 1/2 cups of SUGAR
  • 1 cup of COCOA POWDER (you may use 1/2 cup as u wish)
  • 2 EGGS
  • 2 tsp BAKING POWDER
  • 1/2 tsp SALT
  • 2 tsp VANILLA
  • 1 cup CHOPPED ALMONDS(view this video on how to remove the skin)
Method of baking cake

  1. Preheat oven at 176 degree celcius/350F/gas mark 4
  2. Prepare your baking tray.Apply some butter then put a piece of wax paper on the baking tray and add some butter again and some cocoa powder.Do not use flour as it changes the taste of the cake.
  3. Mix the dry ingredienst in a bowl and whisk them well(flour +cocoa+sugar+baking pwdr+salt)
  4. Mix the wet ingredients in another bowl and whisk them well(butter+milk+vanilla+eggs)
  5. Pour the dry ingredients slowly to the wet ingredients and whisk them well.If your batter becomes too light/too liquid,just add some flour till you get the correct consistency.If it is too thick,just add some milk till you get the correct consistency.
  6. Add half cup of almonds.MIx well.
  7. Pour the batter into a baking tray and put it into the oven and bake for 30mints or till the cake is cooked.
Ingredients for chocolate sauce

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 oz.113 g semi sweet chocolate(I used cadbury even though it is sweet.)
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 Tbsp butter.
Method

  1. Melt the butter and chocolates on a very low heat.
  2. Add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  3. Add a pinch of salt
  4. Increase the heat to medium.
  5. Keep on stiring till it begins to boil.
  6. Off the heat and let it cool.
  7. If it is too light,you may put it in a fridge till the cake is done.
Baked cake

  1. Check the cake with a sharp knife.If the knife comes out dry then the cake is done.Usally check the middle part of the cake as well as the edges.The middle part takes some time to cook.
  2. Take it out from the oven and let it cool.It might take 10-25 mints.Do not rush.
  3. Once teh cake is cool,pour the chocolate sauce on it and use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  4. Now decorate the cake with another half cup of almonds.I do it the lazy way.I grind the almonds and sprinkle on top.You may decorate them as you wish.
  5. Put it in a fridge and serve with Earl Grey/tea/coffe

Tips
  1. Do not use flour to sprinkle on the baking tray.Use cocoa powder in order to preserve the taste
  2. Make sure butter is on room temperature before baking.
  3. Do not over cook as cocoa has the tendecy of drying quickly.You may use semi sweet chocloate bars if you do not prefer cocoa powder.
