I only know a few surah's at the moment (around 6-8) Alhumdulilah. And Allah has blessed me with a very good voice. I heard from another video around like a year ago that there was a story of a person who memorized the Quran, and on judgement day the man said, "Oh Allah, i have memorized this book for your sake". And then Allah replied "You have no memorized it for my sake, only because you want to make other people think you are religious and for your own sake." And allah commanded for him to get sent to the hellfire and the man got chained and dragged into the doors of the hellfire.

Like the guy didnt do it for Allah at all just for people to think he's religious. Now im about to start learning some new Surah but thoughts keep coming like "You only do it cause you want to show the family you have a nice voice" and like theres a part of me saying your doing it to showoff. And i do not know what to do now do i continue??

Jazakallah Khairan for your answers

:wasalam: brother
its such a good effort to try memorise the quran
and please i think its best u continue with ur efforts
and regarding the intention-before u memorise any surah
make sure that u correct the niyat and tell urself that ur doing it for Allah's sake only-do it everytime u want to to start memorising
sometimes there will come shaitan's whispers telling that u have a good voice and people might be impressed listening to it
but ur one and only intention to memorise quran must only be becos of Allah
but yes there is a hadeeth that also says u need to recite the quran beautifully but should refrain from any intention of showing off
everytime when the negative feelings come-say astaghfirullah many times and correct ur intention
and inshaAllah eventually may there is no mazmumah feelings anymore
this is a reminder to my ownself too
all the best brother and keep it on

these thoughts could be frm shaitan so that u dont memorise Allah's book. try to hide how much u are putting efforts. tell others only when asked and necessary.

keep making dua to Allah to save frm riya (showing-off).

assalamualaikum

mashaallah for ur effort, may Allah make u a sincere quran keeper, ameen.

you already know how u should be, so anytime those satanic whispers come to ur mind, just pray from Allah to make them away from u, and return back to ur right intention. dont make it stops u from memorizing the book.

we humans are weak, we are not able to be like the angles of Allah, but we can do more efforts to be better day after day, and inshaallah, if you want good, Allah will help u to get through the difficulties.

the hadith that u have mentioned is a very good reminder. Thank you !

Jazakallah kheirn.

i totally agree with the other replies- these are whispers from the shaytan, he is trying his up-most best to stop you learning the Quran, we are in a constant battle with him in life. if you read ayatul kursi every time you have these thoughts, Allah will protect you from shaytan, as he flees from the person who has recited ayatul kursi.

May Allah make us all from those who have memorised the Quran :tti_sister:
