An Elder

This life went so fast my children are grown,
Some are married and out on their own.
Here I am my home is quiet.
I use to be use to the children and their riots.

I hope they haven’t forgotten about me.
I hope they come by to check and see,
How I am doing and If I’m okay.
I hope they remember what Allah say.

That paradise lies at my feet for my children.
I hope they reverence the womb that bore them.
I trained my babies clothed them and fed them.
Had their father help all wed them.
Gave them money whenever they were in need.
Taught them Islam as their creed.
I even helped teach the children at the Maddrassah.
Being up at Fajr getting home by Asr.
Spending all day in the cause of Allah.
Thank you Lord Alhumdulillah,
I knew some day that this day would come,
May Allah help us when our limbs start to get numb.
I manage to give back to the community,
I hope the children learned from me.
I tried to be an example, I paid my dues.

May Allah forgive me if I am crying the blues.
These are the later days and its not my fault.
Let me call my children and put this complaining to a halt.
Allah hears me and I don’t want to be ungrateful.
If they don’t come see me I might become hateful.
After all I’ve done My reward is with the Creator.
Allahu Akbar Allah is greater.

All the Muslim children should be worried about me.
After all I am an elder in their community.
