Hello friends,

To those who remember me or may be interested, last time I posted, I promised to drop by now and then. I thought you might like to know where I am on my spiritual journey. Well, quite recently I stumbled on information about Orthodox Christianity, and am conversing via e-mail with an Orthodox priest. This religion seems to answer my confusion about many aspects of Christianity. For example, the conflicting assumptions of Roman Catholicism and Protestantism all seem to be explained away. Previously I only knew about Catholicism and Protestantism, and didn't know that there is a Church older than both of them (and bigger than one of them - it's quite scandalous how little most Westerners know about it). There are fasts and prostrations, chants and chastity, and other virtues that I didn't think Christianity should have left behind after the Old Testament. The practices are more similar to those of Islam and in my opinion to those of the Bible too, I suppose because both are more ancient than the recent Christian sects.

I still have much respect for Muslims and still would prefer to have a country full of Muslims than one full of hedonistic agnostics as we now have. And that is not a popular opinion! Most people here would prefer religion to die out altogether, especially those traditions they see as 'foreign'. They forget that Christianity is also a Middle Eastern religion, and that strictly speaking, native British religion is a particularly scary form of paganism involving burnt human sacrifices. Perhaps once again, as with the old Christian immigrants, thies influx of immigrants practicing a Middle Eastern religion may improve the country? I would look forward to no longer being the only young person not getting drunk or having sex, and not the only one with any interest in finding and discussing the Truth. I for one consider myself an advocate for the reputation and rights of Muslims in the West, and the people on this website have helped to dispell any of those fears and misconceptions I may have shared in. This sort of talk might get me labelled a traitor by some, but I don't care. I serve God, and no earthly authority, traditions or values can over-ride the will of God. Some patriotism is little more than idolism, as it leads to irrational favouritism and favouritism to injustice. I had better stop ranting before this becomes an essay.

I hope you are all well and wish you all the best,

SS.

welcome back. its nice that you didn't forget us.
well, reading your post, i can see that you are indeed searching and your search seems to be bringing fruit. I enjoyed reading what you wrote and you spoke the truth. while i was reading your post, i remembered the following verse from the noble Quran:

"Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews and those who are polytheists, and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly."

Al-Maeda, Verse 82

Peace be unto you
