angels around u

The Hadith mentions some actions by which a person is surrounded by angerls for the entire day and others through which he is surrounded for the duration of that deed only and not necessarily the entire day.

Sayyiduna Ali [radhiallaahu anhum] reports that Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] said, ‘Whoever visits his sick Muslim brother during the morning, 70,000 angels seek forgiveness and mercy for him upto the evening, and if he does so during the evening, they do so till the morning and he will receive an orchard in Paradise.’ (Sunan al-Tirmidhi – Imaam Tirmidhi has classified this narration as Hasan (sound).

Whoever recites the following du’aa when leaving the Musjid in the state of Wudhu, 70,000 angels surround (accompany) him. (Sunan ibn Majah; Musnad Ahmad) – This Hadith has been classified as authentic by several Muhadditheen (raf-ul Manaarah)

The Du’aa is ‘Allaahumma inniy as-aluka bihaqqi saa-ileena alayka, wa bi haqqi mamshaaya haadha, fa inniy lam akhruj ashraw walaa bataraw walaa riyaa aw wa laa mu’ah. Kharajtu ittiqaa-a sakhatika, wabtighaa-a ma’rifatik. As-aluka an tu’eezani minannaari wa an taghfiraliy dhunoobiy fa innahu laa yaghfiru dhubooba illaa anta.’

One who recites ‘a’oodhu billaahi samee’il ‘aleem minash shaytaanir rajeem’ thrice and thereafter the last 3 verses of Surah al-Hashr, 70,000 angels are instructed to supplicate on his behalf. If he recites it during the morning, then they do so upto the evening and vice versa.’ (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

The following is a short list (derived from various Ahaadith) of other occasions when the angels either flock around a person or make du’aa on his behalf:

1. A student of Deeni knowledge. (Musnad Ahmad; Sahih ibn Hibbaan)

2. When one sits in a gathering where the verses of the Qur’aan are recited and Almighty Allah is remembered.’ (Muslim)

3. Those who stand in the first rows for Salaat. (Musnad Ahmad; Sunan Abi Dawud)

4. One who remains seated in his place after Salaat in the state of Wudhu. (Sahih Bukhari)

5. Those who teach good to the people. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

6. Those who partake of Sehri before observing any fast. (Sahih ibn Hibbaan)

7. One who sets out to fulfil a need of his Muslim brother. (al-Targheeb)

8. Those who spend in charitable avenues. (Sahih Bukhari)
